last post i referred in our latest purchases to a 'new' robert leiner 12", but i was mistaken i twas 'aedena cycle' ep <the travellers dream> on apollo...guessing from the names on the label :kolbj0rn, svein, torbj0rn, and gaute, i would have to gather these blokes are of northern european descent....this ep is excellent, very apollo(replete w/ dreamy voice sample)....unobtrusive piercing pppoints of sound(if that makes any sense).....i've seen several above par releases coming out on this label: makes me wish i had bought that apllo compilation last summer. There's spacey, there's earthy, and then there's those in the fluid realm: sequential's 'lost in the sea' is brilliant imho (i even like the tour guide comments)...i really get off on water and need more tracks w/ that in mind...liquescent bubble music. Dreamfish, flying high, did it for me but i want more, serious fluid electronic music, so coagulated it can clog your ear passages...any suggestions? ANyone heard these:
quoted 1 line Banco de Gaia-Maya-Planet Dog records (double LP)>Banco de Gaia-Maya-Planet Dog records (double LP)
after Eat Static's 'abductions' , and the Feed Your Head comp., i discovered one fine label....

quoted 1 line Syncrotron Ep-Steinmeir and Cramer-Frankfurt Beat records (12")>Syncrotron Ep-Steinmeir and Cramer-Frankfurt Beat records (12")
thinking of purchasing some newbies..... is Plink Plonk made up of someone from the SHAMEN? another question (not really sure if this is idm) a friend wanted me to ask if *ANYONE* knows of a copy of one dove's 'white love' (i think that's the name) it must be the psychedelic masturbation remix (got me? %) ), he says, and he's willing to pay, pay, *pay*...supposedly there was a small run of these?????? and to the guy who asked whether it was the song itself or the sounds in the song that were the most important.....definitely the sounds...that's the way i've always listened to music, even in my guitar rockin' days it was the SOUND of that squelching instrument that drew me...... it is the artists ability to juxtapose certain sounds together that keep me listening, certain tones or frequencies just strike me( ie that watery sound in 'lost in the sea')...this will eventually leads back to the dead emotive thread. Songs as a whole mean nothing to me.....there is always music going off in my head so everything's continuously mixed, what i hear and what you hear are completely different..... ...... just my 2 karma pts __________________________________q___________r______i___s__________/ qris blohm(kblohm@cln.etc.bc.ca) lost a week somewhere, but now i know i'll be in SF 2 weekends from now on the 25th....this will blow my cortex i'm sure..... +++++++======+++++++======+++++++======+ Kathleen Blohm kblohm@cln.etc.bc.ca Glenlyon-Norfolk School Library phone (604) 592-2401 Fax (604) 592-3911 Community Learning Network British Columbia, Canada

This mix shows up on a _stridently cheezy_ comp I saw at the store the other day, FFRR's "Platinum On Black". The comp appears to be of the hi-nrg-remixes-of-top-40 tunes variety, like that Sony "Welcome To The Future" comp from last year. | Dave Walker, Detroit Art Services (DAS) -- marmoset@msen.com | | | | Without chemicals, life itself would be impossible. |

Very cool with lots of ethnic samples. Some nice remixes of the things we've see on the "Ambient Dub" comps, but NO "DESERT WIND"! Can you believe it? It isn't like umpteen remixes of that song over two years is enough. Oh well, buy the single. However "Maya" seems to lack a lot of oomph. BdG's sound is stated and never strays far from the course. I was a bit disappointed in the album, but I still like it a lot.

That is the Hardkiss remix of "White Love" and I was lucky enough to get two of these on promo. However, I traded one out for "O Je Suis Seul" (can you blame me?), and the other one isn't going anywhere. That particular remix isn't *that* stunning, but the remix by Slam is Reloadlike, oops, I mean Godlike.

Whaaahooo. Looking like a real net-party is shaping up. Tons of people (including me) are flying in from all over for Mixmaster Morris/Namlook. I think an IDM dinner is in order. We can all get together and discuss Pearl Jam. Mail me if you're interested and I'll see what I can coax Drukman and Behlendorf into doing.

and i believe it's going to be available on the forthcoming Hardkiss CD "Future Classics." so don't pay too much for it right now, it should be widely available soon.

I'd be glad to open up my apartment for an IDM/sfraves preparty on Saturday night, although I probably won't go to the event since it's at a 21+ place (and I'm stilla few days away, though I generally don't like 21+ clubs anyways and I've vowed never to go to the place where this one is being held). We could order pizza or go out first, whatever. Unless Jon wants to open up his place, since he's got a bigger place (a house!) and tons o music gear lying around :) Brian

steve hillage's "Rainbow Dome Musick" always does it for me. a fluid ecstasy trip packaged onto the convenient CD format. you might also like jean-michel jarre's "waiting for cousteau" - it has one funky synth-calypso track, one more technoish thing, one vangelis-like epic and then this totally wonderful 46 minute ambient spaceout which features bubbles and piano plinks and murky sounds and makes me feel like i'm back in the womb. not quite watery, but brian eno's "ambient 4: on land" makes me think of swamps and marshes. Plink Plonk is a label run by Mr C of the Shamen. However, it bears no resemblance to their output at all and is much closer to the sort of trancey, continental-European stuff he mostly spins when DJing. (Since Ebeneezer Goode he's had rather a credibility problem which is a shame as he does an excellent set.) There's a compilation of past 12s on the label out now (or very soon) called Parasols which will probably be easier to find for most people. -- Stephen Hebditch TQM Communications steveh@orbital.demon.co.uk

If you want to feel like you're drowning in a sewer you could check out Coil's "The Pope Turned Upside Down" from, I think, Unnatural History. I once put this on a mix tape which I failed to label, then spent the next two weeks wondering where that wonderfully gurgly, nasty piece of sound came from. I don't think it's really what you're looking for, but it certainly fits into the water theme. These guys are indeed from Northern Europe. To be exact, they are from Tromsoe, Norway, and yes, that is the hometown of Biosphere/Geir Jenssen, and yes, they all know each other. I've heard rumours that The Travellers Dream crew have moved to Oslo, so they'll probably be making hardcore headbanging boom-bang big city Techno in no time! :-) Oivind Idso (-: OIVINDI@gribb.hsr.no :-) STUDIOSUS PERPETUUS
