You than have to pay an additional $100 if your track is chosed for inclusion. Sadly, these sort of "promotional opportunities" aren't that rare. And as someone who has received more than a handful of these sort of compilations for review or airplay consideration, I can tell you that they usually suck ass. Most artists with enough talent to produce listenable music also have enough brains to recognize these deals as the scam that they are, which means that with very few exceptions, the material that ends up on these things is pretty dire. The bottom line is that for that same $100 an upstart artist could make up 75 cdrs and mail them out to labels, radio, press, etc and do a great deal to get their music out. The only time those "pay for play" type scenerios end up working out ok is when its a co-op sort of thing with a bunch of artists getting together and all pitching in a bit. And Greg is right, most of those comps do "SUCK ASS"! I have been producing hip hop artist for almost a decade now and have decided to get into electronic music. If anyone wants to sign with me I won't charge you a cent you must give me 99.8 percent of all revenue the recording brings in but I'll take care of you out of my own pocket. Suge Knight
