Did anybody else find "The Heartfelt" to be a good listen? I, unfortunately, didn't. They tried to replicate the neo-Kraftwerk sound popularized by Komputer, Mikron 64, MAT-101, Bochum Welt, Kraftwelt, etc., but it just fell flat. I'm all about deadpan vocals (read: "Warm Leatherette") but there is a difference between deadpan and an irritatingly flat, wavering, pseudo-Cockney that clashes with the melodies. The descriptions and reviews made me excited, but it leaves much to be desired in terms of production, lyrics, and general sound. However, in the same order, I got "Supermogadon", "Life is Full of Possibilities", "Cosmic Forces of Mu", and the Tango N' Vectif re-issue, which, of course, are all ace. My 2 cents __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I actually quite like the album. I do see what you mean about the vocals, but they work for me. I really like the way they interact with the music...otherwise it'd be too sugary-pop for my tastes. You can definitely tell English isn't their first language. And I rather like the lyrics on quite a few of the songs. 'Impossible', 'Stranger', 'Way Too Good' all have engaging lyrics with really nice production. Usually when you hear a band is trying to include electronics in their pop they seem diametrically opposed with their style. I think Figurine have really meshed them together quite well. No it's not going to impress the hardcore IDM fans, but if you want a lighter pop album with interesting beats that don't detract from the song, give them a listen. -Nathan

does anybody have their previous album? any comments? I have one song from it called _no batteries_ which i think is one of their best. the _heartfelt_ is a pretty decent album ... if you're into [sometimes]female fronted depeche mode type bands. -am
