Is there anyone here who isn't familiar with Ifach 6 (Baird Remo) It is one of the best, most interesting releases that I've ever heard. I know it's not that new, but I've got a nasty feeling that It's being ignored, and just slipped by as another overly experimental 808 workout. It's the only fairly recent release which I think uses the old 808 sounds in a truly origional way. If you know where I'm coming from then please add comments, if you don't then find this record soon before it's too late. Last years Abacus release (relics) also deserves as much credit. ______________________ ben@bypass.demon.co.uk

In a recent message ibss@ukrpack.net stated> please read the rules of this list first. Anyone is tired of this thread so please do not post such questions. It is clearly stated in idm-list statute. idm is a list about experimental elecronic music. nothing more. Why are you so concerned with rules? My posting has already been made. I've read the rules. thank you very much for your suggestion and concern though. what the hell does, "anyone is tired of this thread mean"? so far you are the only person on this list who has posted this opinion. when will you learn that you can only speak for yourself? if this were all about you the list would be called the opinions of an alien. who's an alien to tell people what's going on here? i feel that the question, "what is idm" is honestly a lot more worthwhile than a posting that says, " plaid can suck tom J's nuts", or "does anyone know who freaky flow is? he's really cool and the best DJ ever". maybe some people are really sick of these kinds of postings? i don't remember you posting anything about these wastes of time. i didn't put this up because i thought it would be some cutsie question to get people talking. i believe that when music that was experimental in 92 is being passed off as idm, and postings like these are even made, people of the list should be answering the question (or at least some of them). i write electronic music and it really pisses me off to hear you say that idm is a list and nothing more. what was it before this list? or were you even around then? idm stands for intelligent dance music. idm is not the name of this list, idm@ is just how they keep track of the mail not the actual name. this is hyperreal's idm mailing list, not intelligent dance music itself. i think they have one about raves too, you may be more interested in something like that. your opinion is exactly why i made this posting in the first place, and let's just say that you are right. if this is a list about experimental electronic music and nothing more then why are people making postings about drum and bass DJ's? who your favorite DJ is has nothing to do with idm. it seems to be more about a bunch of bullshit to me. I'm making this public because it started public for a reason. You claim idm is just a list. I've heard this a few times and can't help but wonder where you are coming from. also, if you'd like to be the one to explain to me what is experimental about drum and bass, or whether plaid could kick Autechre's ass or not I'll make a posting declaring my ignorance. that way everyone on the list can read another posting that they don't want to hear about and eventually, if this goes on long enough people will know my opinion on everything. boy George kicks everyone's ass. thanks for being a perfect example. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

And you are just plain retarded. Like I said hyperreal has a mailing list for raves. I agree that the post was "real" but was it right for the list? All that I want to know is this: is all electronic music today considered idm? DJ's have very little to do with idm (what they do is something different from writing music) but seem to soak up most of the glory because they are cheap to rent as easy to get hold of. if you were a musician you'd be fed up with this too. it's hard for musicians to get booked because it's more work, we have more to carry, so we charge more. rude or not, my posting was every bit as real and had everything to do with idm. your last posting is another fine example of what I'm talking about. who cares if you think I'm rude? who cares if i think that you are retarded. get it? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

"soak up most of the glory?" i'm a musician and a dj. the persecution complex that a lot of electronic musicians show is amusing to say the least. IMO it shows them to be the frustrated pop stars that they are. 9 times out of 10 i'd rather see a dj set than a PA. why? because 9 times out of 10 there's more opportunity for varience in a dj set. i'm sure that YOUR live show is different, but that's been my experience. i keep expecting this provincialism to erode away as time marches on, but it hasn't happened yet. . . ------------ 1642 try 621 ------------ --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

seeing as how that was one of the few "real" posts of recent memory (someone who honestly wanted to know more about a dj he liked) you come off as just plain rude steve MrtOLVER@aol.com wrote:
