what the hell does, "anyone is tired of this thread mean"? so far you are the
only person on this list who has posted this opinion. when will you learn
that you can only speak for yourself? if this were all about you the list
would be called the opinions of an alien. who's an alien to tell people
what's going on here?
i feel that the question, "what is idm" is honestly a lot more worthwhile
than a posting that says, " plaid can suck tom J's nuts", or "does anyone
know who freaky flow is? he's really cool and the best DJ ever". maybe some
people are really sick of these kinds of postings? i don't remember you
posting anything about these wastes of time. i didn't put this up because i
thought it would be some cutsie question to get people talking. i believe
that when music that was experimental in 92 is being passed off as idm, and
postings like these are even made, people of the list should be answering the
question (or at least some of them). i write electronic music and it really
pisses me off to hear you say that idm is a list and nothing more. what was
it before this list? or were you even around then? idm stands for intelligent
dance music. idm is not the name of this list, idm@ is just how they keep
track of the mail not the actual name. this is hyperreal's idm mailing list,
not intelligent dance music itself. i think they have one about raves too,
you may be more interested in something like that. your opinion is exactly
why i made this posting in the first place, and let's just say that you are
right. if this is a list about experimental electronic music and nothing more
then why are people making postings about drum and bass DJ's? who your
favorite DJ is has nothing to do with idm. it seems to be more about a bunch
of bullshit to me. I'm making this public because it started public for a
reason. You claim idm is just a list. I've heard this a few times and can't
help but wonder where you are coming from. also, if you'd like to be the one
to explain to me what is experimental about drum and bass, or whether plaid
could kick Autechre's ass or not I'll make a posting declaring my ignorance.
that way everyone on the list can read another posting that they don't want
to hear about and eventually, if this goes on long enough people will know my
opinion on everything. boy George kicks everyone's ass. thanks for being a
perfect example.
