Us a non-polar solvent to remove those stickers: Lighter fluid. Just a dab to saturate the sticker and it slides off.... A. Mukerjee Vassar College Laws are like cobwebs, which may catch small flies, but let wasps and hornets break through. --Jonathan Swift

Peanut Butter makes a good solvent/abrasive that both dissolves the adhesive (its the oil) and also rolls up the gunk into little balls. After the gum comes off, you can then clean it with soap. In a pinch, nose grease works well too. Soap will not dissolve the gum in the first place, as you've probably discovered.

I've always had good luck with olive oil. THis is probably easier for Euro-IDMers to get. :) Che

I believe this is a banned substance in the US since it is carcinogenic - but I've always whipped sticky gummy goo off in a flash with Benzene on a ball of cotton wool. I have even removed unknown substanced off the surface of a disc (CD) with it. NEVER use it with vinyl though. There's a difference between Benz*i*ne and Benz*e*ne. The one has more dangerous volative fumes than the other - dunno, go ask around. I *

do you people know that you can get jewel cases for like 25 cents apiece? i missed the beginning of this thread and assumed it was regarding vinyl sleeves, but most of the recent posts would be more destructive than the adhesive.

nah... why spend 25 cents when you can get the personal satisfaction of saving the jewel box that you have. more environmentally friendly, too. the worst is when they put price tags on digipaks because it can stain the cardboard. as for good stuff to use, my mom used to work in the burn unit at the hospital where she works (but had never heard of "not for threes") and she used to get this stuff called medi-sol. it was a citrus-based adhesive remover, and it works great (guess it has to if it's being used on burn victims...) and leaves your cases smelling nice and orange-y! unfortunately, she's moved to a different department and can't get any more. we're making the last bottle last as long as possible. =) alan! np:nada. soon it'll be kosmik kommando or dj cam. speaking of kosmik kommando, thanks to all who replied about frequenseize. i picked up the 2disc version at future sounds for $20.00, and i love it. what else can i find like this? what exactly does "acid" mean anyway? alan (revealing his big lack of knowledge) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com

You definitely want to use benzine instead of benzeze. Benzene is very bad for you, and can cause aplastic anemia and leukemia with repeated exposure. Benzine, I believe is a Limey term; the stuff is also called naphtha. The stuff I use is "mineral spirits", probably very similar in composition to naphtha, and usually marketed as paint thinner(not paint remover!!!!). This does a great job at dissolving the label goo, and though it is bad for you, is not anywhere near as toxic as benzene. Lighter fluid is probably a good bet, too, and comes in those neat little squeeze containers that make it easier to use. A little bit on a paper towel does the trick. Mr. Goodwrench

Geez, all these people using chemicals to remove sticker goo... I take the paper part off first and rub off whatever I can with my finger. Then there's usually just a little bit left which I get off by rubbing with a blankie back and forth really quickly. The goo gets warm, smears, then comes off. This works great on CD cases and works on other surfaces too if I'm careful. The all natural way! Yeah! For IDM content, does Frank de Wulf have any EPs or other works out there? I've gotten my hands on a few of his remixes (Orb, Ishii, Model 500) and really like what I've heard... np: Prisoner soundtrack, for what it's worth

Yeh, I've picked up a strange little item in a second hand shop a while ago titled "Missing Links" (Vol 1 - suggesting there may be follow ups) on HPF Records - cat. no HPF919 - which features 12 tracks from a variety of contributors, but mainly Frank de Wulf, or projects he's had a hand in : Beyond the B-Sides being one, Chestnut another, even a remix of The Orb's 'The Blue Room' done by him (which does NOT improve on the original, IMO). Total running time of CD : 73'42". Happy to trade you this, should you be interested. I * "Incomplete without surface noise" - Autechre
