Has anyone else noticed anything strange with the sound on the Auntie Audrey CD's (The Orb Remix Projects)??? When I first listened through it, I found the general sound very flat and dead. When I checked more carefully with headphones, I noticed almost no difference when I pressed the mono-button in and out! I also compared the Depeche Mode CD-single where Happiest Girl is, and there is a tingling (trianglish) sound in the right channel on the DM single, but on Auntie Audrey, the same sound is right in the middle with all the other sounds. Has anyone else noticed this? Or is it some bad pressings around? Too bad if it really is in mono, because it's a great compilation. i think you're right. i just checked "satellite serenade" against the cd single on AO and there is a wonderful little bit of percussion that zips between the speakers on the original. on the compilation, it isn't there, and the sound is definitely flatter... i also checked the killing joke mix and although the original isn't as noticeably stereo, it definitely has more presence than the compilation. dammit. i'm gonna fire off an email to deviant and see what's up with this. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jon Drukman jsd@cyborganic.com -------------------------------------------------------------------------
