I was wondering if anyone can give me some suggestions? I've really had a craving for some rap vocals with different types of music, more specifically something really noisy, experimental rap over noise/experimental music. Or maybe something like phthalo with rap. something really dark and well produced, musically and lyrically. I'm also looking for some really angry music, maybe even with vocals(maybe not), but "intelligent" (lyrically and musically, if lyrics are involved) not like any atari teenage riot stuff.. something really really good, but agressive, ENERGY, complex and angry. suggestions? thanks alex ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

The new Spectre CD, "The End", on Wordsound has raps on many of the tracks. Musically, it's in the dark dub/illbient/Crooklyn school of sound. You may also dig some other Wordsound releases like Scotty Hard's "Return of Kill Dog E" and stuff by Sensational (although his stuff is pretty lo-fi - for his first album, he didn't own a microphone, so he recorded the lyrics through a set of headphones!). How about WordSound? They're a bit overrated IMO, but Spectre's "Second Coming," Ice's "Bad Blood" and Scotty Hard's "Return of Kill Dog E" seem to fit the bill for what you're explaining... Techno Animal have also featured raps on a few releases, though the only specific one I can remember now is Radio Hades (I wasn't incredibly impressed with it). .John. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

check out synascape - So what CD (on Ant-zen). Somewhere between industrial, IDM and experimental. Highly aggressive, distored and full of energy. There are vocals but they are so distorted that they become another layer in the music. It is almost as if they are used as a synth (if that makes sense) sound samples at: http://www.ant-zen.com/synapscape/ Also, check out other artists on ant-zen (specifically converter) and hymen (specifically somatic response). A good overview of the hymen label (which is full of angressive distorted music) is the teknoir CD. It is a 2CD comp which introduces you to a lot of the artists on the label. also don't forget about muslimgauze. A lot of his releases seem to fit the style your looking for. links of interest: http://www.klangstabil.com/hymen/ http://www.ant-zen.com/ http://www.pretentious.net/Muslimgauze/ -daniel: Head Monkey: Mad Monkey Records: http://monkey.eliteware.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Multsanta could probably give you better ideas, considering he's the biggest noisy experimental / hip-hop head I know of on IDM... but here are my suggestions: Company Flow gets pretty experimental and noisy; in fact, one of the biggest complaints about CoFlow is that they're too out there in terms of production. Pharoahe Monch can get kinda raw at times - check out Internal Affairs on Rawkus. Probably not entirely what you're looking for, but I've been bumping "The Light" and "The Truth" so much off that record (plus the obligatory "Simon Says") that I have to recommend it. Other than that - maybe some of the NinjaTune/Big Dada artists - Roots Manuva had some pretty inventive production behind his stuff, though it's not totally noisy or experimental, it's definitely above the pack. Check some of the others out, too. Hope this helps, Bill / dj marathon "Alex ..." wrote:

mostly everything i know have has been covered here. but i do have to second the New Kingdom reccomendation. BTW, i finally got a hold of the 12" of 'Good Times' with the Del Mix, which is so insanely good. and on an experimental hip hop tip, i'm gonna tell everyone to check out Aesop Rock again. Although not neccesarily noisey, the production is really dark. His 'appleseed' CDr is one of the most invigorating hip hop records i've heard in a while, check http://www.aesoprock.com/ he's currently recording his debut album..

well, to be modest, i think jason j. tar & arthur purvis both got me on the experimental end of things At 09:11 AM 1/25/00 PST, Alex ... wrote:

not particullarly noisey, but you have to check out Shadow Huntaz "DJ Screams Medic" 12" on Plug Research. Production by Trash Aesthetic, which is low res/crank & Mannequin Lung. it's really great. but be forewarned that there's another Shadow Huntaz 12" not produced by the PR guys which is absolutely horrid. typical indie shit with ultra bland production. Wordsound's Black Hoodz label recently released a 10" of the stuff from these sessions. It's under the name Crazy Wisdom Masters (which was the original album title) At 12:21 PM 1/25/00 -0600, William VanLoo wrote:

i dunno. i think el-p's kinda fallen off production wise. that co flow instrumental LP was pretty freaking boring. This unreleased Sole diss track 'Linda Tripp' was based entirely around this weak Bjork sample (come on, i think we can put a rest to sampling bjork tracks now... first RZA, then Timbland, now El-P) then the two tracks he did for the quannum crew ('looking over a city' and Blackalicious' 'Deception pt. 2' remix) were just really lumpy bland tracks that just kinda plod along. oh, i sorta liked 'patriotism' off soundbombing, but again, it was nothing outstanding. I'm not really checking for co flow shit anymore, especially since Big Jus left.. ==== (sorta otp) recent hip hop records worth checking out: Outsidaz: Night Life EP- First official release Brick City's finest and remote crew to both Eminem and Flipmode's Rah Digga. 'it's like i haven't ate and your click smells like carrot cake!' (young zee. . i'm putting that in my sig, right next to lil' wayne;) just about illustrates their style in a nutshell. Anti-Pop Consortium: Lift 12"- haven't heard this yet, except on RA, but Aceyalone makes a cameo, so it's probably worthwhile. on dan the Automator's new label (they also re-issued the two Dr. Octagon 12"s) V/A: Project Blowed- absolutely classic indie LP finally sees a full re-release (only about six years too late). Worth checking if only for my favorite blowdian track. 'Jurasick' by acey, iodine & CVE. seriously, i could listen to that song on repeat for hours on end and still love it. i still flip out whenever i hear NGAFish's verse. and that beat, oooh shit. oh yeah, the rest of the record/ Common: 'The Sixth Sense' 12"- finally common on a DJ Premier beat. it's as good as one would expect it to be. new common lp is out in march, which will officially be the best month of the year (albums from Del & J-Live also drop then) and on a totally off topic and unrelated note. D'Angelo's "Voodoo" came out yesterday, and anyone who appriciates real R&B (NOT pop) should get it at all costs. peece. andrew --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
