mostly everything i know have has been covered here. but i do have to
second the New Kingdom reccomendation. BTW, i finally got a hold of the

and on an experimental hip hop tip, i'm gonna tell everyone to check out
Aesop Rock again. Although not neccesarily noisey, the production is
really dark. His 'appleseed' CDr is one of the most invigorating hip hop

not particullarly noisey, but you have to check out Shadow Huntaz "DJ
Screams Medic" 12" on Plug Research. Production by Trash Aesthetic, which
is low res/crank & Mannequin Lung. it's really great.
but be forewarned that there's another Shadow Huntaz 12" not produced by
the PR guys which is absolutely horrid. typical indie shit with ultra
bland production.

Wordsound's Black Hoodz label recently released a 10" of the stuff from
these sessions. It's under the name Crazy Wisdom Masters (which was the
original album title)

i dunno. i think el-p's kinda fallen off production wise. that co flow
instrumental LP was pretty freaking boring.
This unreleased Sole diss track 'Linda Tripp' was based entirely around
this weak Bjork sample (come on, i think we can put a rest to sampling
bjork tracks now... first RZA, then Timbland, now El-P)
then the two tracks he did for the quannum crew ('looking over a city' and
Blackalicious' 'Deception pt. 2' remix) were just really lumpy bland tracks
that just kinda plod along.
oh, i sorta liked 'patriotism' off soundbombing, but again, it was nothing
outstanding. I'm not really checking for co flow shit anymore, especially
since Big Jus left..

(sorta otp) recent hip hop records worth checking out:
Outsidaz: Night Life EP- First official release Brick City's finest and
remote crew to both Eminem and Flipmode's Rah Digga. 'it's like i haven't
ate and your click smells like carrot cake!' (young zee. . i'm putting that
in my sig, right next to lil' wayne;) just about illustrates their style in
a nutshell.
Anti-Pop Consortium: Lift 12"- haven't heard this yet, except on RA, but
Aceyalone makes a cameo, so it's probably worthwhile. on dan the
Automator's new label (they also re-issued the two Dr. Octagon 12"s)
V/A: Project Blowed- absolutely classic indie LP finally sees a full
re-release (only about six years too late). Worth checking if only for my
favorite blowdian track. 'Jurasick' by acey, iodine & CVE. seriously, i
could listen to that song on repeat for hours on end and still love it. i
still flip out whenever i hear NGAFish's verse. and that beat, oooh shit.
oh yeah, the rest of the record/
Common: 'The Sixth Sense' 12"- finally common on a DJ Premier beat. it's
as good as one would expect it to be. new common lp is out in march, which
will officially be the best month of the year (albums from Del & J-Live
also drop then)
and on a totally off topic and unrelated note. D'Angelo's "Voodoo" came
out yesterday, and anyone who appriciates real R&B (NOT pop) should get it
at all costs.
