well, i don't wanna hate on my own people -- there's spinning and then there's selecting, and i was definitely down with everything selected last night. (well, just about -- sutekh, what the fuck was "break dance party" all about?! ;)) and hey, i tripped over the freakin CD input cord, knocking it on the ground and sending the needles skipping all over the joint, so i'm not one to talk. as for the mod thing... yeah, what gives? SF idm crowd gets more and more artpunk all the time. i think it's tigerbeat6's influence... they've got all the wannabe williamsburghers out here... :) -----Original Message----- From: kiya "i am a copier" babzani [mailto:denial@ix.netcom.com] Sent: Thursday, August 15, 2002 12:10 PM To: Philip Sherburne; idm@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [idm] trouble eats your lunch!

yup.. i made it out.. interesting to see how some idm artists can produce a decent album but can't spin records to save their lives. :) just my opinion though, philip i did enjoy your sets though, as always.. i can't believe how many people showed up... you're right, Amnesia WAS just a bar until that ghostly show, now it's idm central. and what's with the new "mod" looking idm crowd in sf???? weird. -kiya --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

ok, you're right philip.... there is spinning and there there's "selecting".. but if a dj is just selecting, then i at least expect some decent stuff.. man, i'm not naming any names, but i heard about six really really fucking horrible Hi-NRG dance records from 1991 in a row at around 10:30pm. :)

i knew i was in for a treat when the cd player goes crashing to the floor while the needles go flying in different directions as i walk in. :)

i totally agree. i think the look is coming from two different fields... the electro-punk crowd which is heavy into Chicks on Speed, Crack: We Are Rock, Peaches, etc.. and the tigerbeat crowd which is heavy into gawd knows what these days.. and together we have idm-punk! uuuggghh!!!! everybody give it up for some idm-punk!!! -kiya iamacopierltd. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
