Dillusions of Grandeur is fairly good (i have the vinyl tho so i'm missing tracks), nicely programmed hip-hop beats, cool textures throughout and very well produced. Some of the songs are stronger than others. For instance the secret mystery track ain't too great. But anyway blah blah blah as we humans say. furg worpy? reccomended. Props to Jon Drukman....(any album soon?) J On Thu, 13 Jul 1995, Peel Seamus wrote:

(nevermind thee name ov thee publikation-- it'z not what that'd imply) Hardkiss -- Delusions of Grandeur. Hardkiss 2215-I Market Street Suite 836 San Francisco CA 94114 A two-CD set by various projects related to the three Brothers Hardkiss and their label. Ironically enough, the label is called Hardkiss. The brothers include Gavin Hardkiss (Hawke), Scott Hardkiss (God Within), and Robbie Hardkiss (Little Wing). There is also included a 'top secret song' by '???,' a remix of 'Drums are Dangerous' by the Drum Club as mixed by the Brothers Hardkiss, and two songs by a band from Ft. Lauderdale that's signed to the label called Rabbit In The Moon. Basically, the stuff is 'ambient' tekno. It's intended solely for the danse floor (if that), preferably heightened through the use of hallucigenetic drugs. This just screams acid-- and subsequently screams boring just as loud. Here are overused percussion loops, typical 'ambient' keyboards, cheesy sounding synthed bass, overused samples, and repetition like you've never known. The Drum Club song and the 'top secret song' are very good, and worthwhile of one's time. The rest? Pffht, I wouldn't even want to danse to them. just mi opinion tho, obviously. s. __ /\ /\ /\_ /\ ______________ slave@castillo.wariat.org \ / \ / \/\/ \_ / \___/ atm0sFear \/ \/ \/

Matter of fact: Future Sound Of London didn't only make the soundtrack but were also the featured "stars" of a Nike/Fila/Reebok/Adidas (I really can't remember which) ad campaign that ran on European TV a couple of years ago. - chris@minsk.docs.uu.se <http://www.update.uu.se/~chris/>

you guys are doing this just to torture me, right? the production team on the 3 Nudes and Raincry EPs was me, mike wertheim, and jeff taylor. despite what the credits say, we did a hell of a lot more work than just "additional production." jeff and i basically wrote all of the song "pacific coastal highway" while gavin hardkiss sat in the studio and watched. bitching aside, if you want more stuff like 3 Nudes & Raincry, check out Jeff Taylor's work under the name DELUXE. The CD "Let The Magic Flow" will satisfy your Hardkiss cravings. there is a 12" called "Futura" which has young american primitive and exist dance remixes as well. Jeff's work has the same sort of melodic trippiness that is on those Hardkiss records. i have sort of diverged from that path however... although you should check out the b-side of my new 12", a track called "another rainy day".
