I was shopping and couldn't find the new DOS TRACKS outing by Atom Heart and because I *had* to get something started looking through the Comps. Gave The Widescreen Versions a listen and was quite impressed with what I found on it: it looked like some remixes done by Warp artists. Anyone have more information on this release? Was it an actual release? David

I gather your talking about the release on certificate 18. Basically it is remixes of artists/tracks on certificate 18 (most if not all had been previously released on vinyl only) And yes it is quite good. If I remember corrctly the standout tracks on there are the remixes by plaid, autechre and the two lone swordsman. I also remember really liking the mindnight funk association (i think thats right) remix. MFA is mark broom and someone else correct? so yes it as an actual release; got a little talk on the list when it came out. -daniel Head Monkey Mad Monkey Records http://monkey.eliteware.com On Wed, 16 Jun 1999, Warp Yourself wrote:

Lance and Daniel already covered the info on this one, but I though I'd drop a little more about Certificate 18, which has grown over the years to be one of my favorite labels. The last dozen releases, including the Hidden Rooms II and Klute LPs, have been some of the most ground breaking records to come out in a while. Tracks like Polar's "Mind of a Killer" and the photek remix of Klute's "Silent Weapon" are extremely minimal but absolutely beautiful pieces of music. Going back, the 'black science labs' (aka teebee) single and the original "Relics" are smashers. And then there's the really weird ones, like ae's rmx of "Hypnotise". I'm really interested to see what cert18's got up their sleeve next! word to the mothership, brockout

yes, it's the same hi-ryze from gpr/braniak. i don't have any phume so i can't give a review, but if you go to www.crammed.be you might be able to find some samples (they were on one of the freezone comps). eric

Freezone 3 "horizontal dancing" Phume "So Many Times" Disc 1 Track 1 Never paid attention before, it's in now... Quiet, laid back flute over some quiet mid-speed jungle beats, and the voice of a woman saying "...wanted to touch you." Then, 6 minutes into the song, a marimba-like synth sound comes in and does a few notes over and over with a bit of an echo. Allright, but not really my style, kindof like a minimal trip-hop or something. (However, the next song, "Bulls Dozing" by Fila Brazillia is worth most of the CD's price. One of thier best tracks.) _________________________________ Adam Roesch / roesch@augsburg.edu University of Idaho / Moscow / ID / USA Visit my Fila Brazillia/Pork Recordings fan site: http://dogbert.augsburg.edu/~roesch/pork/ "Because success needs killing" TRICKY

Both flute and vocals ripped straight out of THX 1138. I rather like this one... b
