Sorry if this sounds like a dumb question, but does anyone know why the recording level on Alec Empire-Low On Ice seem so low? Could this just be my copy? Whenever I listen to it, I have to turn the volume way up to hear it. Chris Sez: I think it's because it was probably mastered *correctly*. This same phenomenon occurs when you play any of the Axiom/laswell discs. They sound quiet, unlike th usual pumpin' stuff we all like to hear. 95% of the cd's we buy, especially with pop music, have been published at incredibly high volumes to pump the shit out of your walkman. From what I understand, this damages the sound and people who give a shit about that sometimes will record at a lower level to preserve the sound. I don't know all this for sure, but I've heard rumors. -CF
