How rare is Jedi Knights' 12" "May The Funk Be With You" (the first record on the Clear label) ? Is it easily available through eBay ? How much can I expect to pay for it ? __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. Ebay is a crap shoot, so there are really no medians to expect, logically. One day you can snatch an item for a LOW start bid (provided the seller isn't using a high reserve), the next you might pay through the nose. A lot depends on who sees what, when the item(s) are ending and whole pile of other factors aside from the always present "ifs" involving item age, condition, numbers pressed and demand for it. There's one up right now in the UK at 16 gbp, but it has 6 hours until the auction ends. The last 3 seconds are what really tells the story - as most seasoned ebayers will testify. The prevalence of sniping software out there is further adding to that trend. Here's the link for the one I mentioned above if you want to follow it http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=926060587 I guess I would be leery of using one auction to estimate demand and all of the variegated factors which contribute to an item's final price. If you check GEMM, you'll see some really vast ranges - many of them exorbitantly high (imo). http://wk1.gemm.com/c/search.pl?sid=302064523&key=3452&disp_ad_format_mode=0&artist=JEDI+KNIGHTS&title=MAY+THE+FUNK+BE+WITH+YOU Bottom line : what's it worth to YOU and the seller/buyer? (personally, NO record is worth all o' dat - but if you have the cash and really want it that bad, more power to you and PLEASE bid on my auctions! My prices are far more reasonable :-) jeff --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I have to agree with jeff. I put a copy up for auction a number of months back and got zero hits on it. there was no reserve, although start bid price was $15. did a search and there were two other copies on ebay aready and both were not doing so hot. but I've seen it go for *a lot* in the past, both on and off ebay. (btw - not selling the 12" presently.) really too bad about clear, such a wonderful label. someone needs to come along and reissue all that material. I'm hoping that the boards of canada twoism reissue will sell like mad and it'll encourage labels with the extra $ to put some of that great material long out of print back into circulation. I've heard all the arguments as to why they don't, but no matter how good some of the stuff coming out lately is, it just pales in comparision to some of the amazing material that has come and gone, to be found only on ebay for a weeks wages or on your favorite file sharing networks. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

As the others mentioned, the price for this item varies. But it is also dependent on whether the 12" is on clear or black vinyl. If I am not mistaken, only the first 1000 copies were available on clear vinyl and came in an embossed sleeve. Later pressings were on black wax and came in a plain white sleeve with a small Jedi Knights sticker in the upper left-hand corner. Lastly, I just want to add that this along with the first few singles on Clear (Gescom, Tusken Raiders, Plaid) are all TOP NOTCH. A very exciting time for IDM/electronica. -Mike --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Actually, to be anal about it, most of the black vinyl copies came in exactly the same sleeve as the clear vinyl. At least I've come across maybe ten copies of it in the past all of which were in the same sleeve. If it's the same as the Tusken Raiders Bantha Trax 12", then there are only a few stickered sleeves out there. And interestingly enough, despite being listed in the main Clear discog, I've been reliably informed that the Gescom clear vinyl 12" does not exist! Apart from all that I agree, they are all class releases, shame things didn't work out better for Clear...

This should answer your question.... Some promotional copies of this release were issued with the title NODDY HOLDER. This title was later used for a version of the track "Jismentalsupersexifunkatasmicthrobalingusaural Delight" that appeared (along with a version of "May The Funk...") on the Jedi Knights album NEW SCHOOL SCIENCE (Universal Language, 1996).
