..after you listen to this: FELIX DA HOUSECAT "Madame Hollywood Silver/Remixes" (Emperor Norton) CD $6.99 RealAudio: http://64.27.65.90:8080/ramgen/othermusic/madameho.rm Newly revived electro sensation, Felix da Housecat keeps the dream alive with remixes of "Madame Hollywood", "Silver Screen..." and "What Does it Feel Like?" done by a few of his pals. While some simply offer "their" version of the song, others (Adult, Ursula 1000, and Jacques Lu Cont) take the tracks to other levels. Eight (!) remixes in all that range from poppy electro birthday party jams (Ladytron), to deep party house (R.Myerz/J.Herren Band), to cold electro futurism (Adult), to magnum synthwave opus (Jacques Lu Cont). Ursula 1000 adds Prince-like hand claps and Miss Kittin lyrics cut up into speak-and-spell style syllables. Nice! A track for everyone in the family. One size fits all. [SM] "One day I'll become a big star like the Big Dipper" Honestly! I'm putting on Computer World to forget this all happened... k, that's it for me. I promise.

*sigh* electroclash... how much longer til it burns out? "bands" like W.I.T. making the covers of glossy magazines without any recordings to show for it (and didn't i hear that they shamelessly lip synch?). when its all over, i'm sure the REAL bands like Adult. and Ladytron will still be kicking out great tracks. But it seems that for every good band that falls into what is termed "electroclash", there are a bajillion others who just came to dress up and lip synch and make you sick with all the press they get for it. -Aaron --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

It's absolutely insane. How many times am I at a bar and someone says "oh my god, WIT are playing at...) Who the fuck are WIT? There is a lesson to be learned here. If you want your music to be somewhat popular and you want the artists that make this music to continue to do so and hopefully make a living off of it it then try and have some fun with it. Electroclash has gotten so big because people have fun with it, there's no reason why idm can't be fun, the music doesn't even have to change, it's the attitude. To be fair, electroclash suffers rather from the fact that any chancer can adopt a couple of signifiers (artsy hair, bassline that goes um-WAH um-WAH um-WAH um-WAH, tune off a new order b-side, german accent) and 'be' electroclash. We then get deluged by piss artists, and miss the fact that a lot of people are making rather good dance oriented music. Although I admit that I am partly just hoping it'll turn into a bleep revival. d. nb: please, please don't use the phrase 'real bands': it makes me think of the Stereophonics, and then feel unwell.. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
