Hey all, I was hoping someone out there might know where I could get a copy of Pulusha's 'Isolation' on cd. I've got the vinyl but the pressing isn't the best, and I would so like it on cd. Hi, I'm new to the list and to electronic music generally. Has anyone heard the compilation series Mushroom Jazz? I'm not even sure that this qualifies as IDM, but I'm interested in what people have to say about it. How about the Omlounge series? ANy good? Thanks! Hit and miss; a few good tracks here and there. Very 'soft' stuff, if that's what you're wanting. I * --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Welcome to the list and & the musice generally Mushroom Jazz I would describe as more of a softer-lulling you to sleep "dinner-house" (house music you listen to while you eat your dinner) than IDM, but it enormously popular nonetheless. Om Lounge series has some interesting pieces (J Boogie, Beanfield, Fila Brazilia, Ian Pooley) given they're on Vol 5, they were bound to have something decent in there eventually, but IDM??? not really sure it would fit it, but hey sure! why not? -i __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I didn't like it much - as someone else said, where's the mushroom? There's a CD by Bill Laswell (there he goes again) called 'Hallucination Engine'. I never got round to buying my own copy but it provided an excellent sound track for my early trips. If you like breaks, there was an American label called Elastic that put out 3 releases before it went under, one of them is an album called '21-3'. Very psychdelic with a nice jazzy/funky feel to it, though purists would probably shoot me for saying so. Anig Browl _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I rather liked that compilation, but I was under the impression it was called Elastic and on the label 21-3. That comes from an interview with the label people that I read in one of the monthlies, and I have a copy at home too. ok stuff, gut generally i'd dub om lounge as "girl-friendly". a genre of dance/electronic that is non-threatening, washy, femal-vocal including, kind of slow and funky/mellow housey-ambent elements and genearally a pretty wistful vibe. now, i'm not saying girls like certain a kind of music, my girlfreind outrules that theory. we're just classifying a certain type of female who doesn't buy much music, and usually listens to it only when they're doing something else(driving, making the bed, reading, dressing etc). a lot of girls just aren't headz. the kind that sweat ya out the record shop and stand around bored are the ones that will be feeling the om lounge series. they play it in the gap for chrissakes! like st germain tourist. good stuff, harmless and pleasant, and much better that pop. but still, sometimes one's head may call for more drastic measures. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

This is too diffuse and rambling to be an actual flame bait, but I'd think twice before posting anything this wooly-headed and demonstrably specious in the future. "a lot of girls just aren't headz." For all X, a lot of X just aren't headz. I'd get used to making your own bed in the future. On Tue, 26 Jun 2001 JShupester@aol.com wrote:

wasn't trying to start this whole gender debate. just what my girlfriend (yes, girlfriend) have dubbed a certain kind of electronic music that tends to appeal to MANY girls we know. just classifying music based on our own experience not setting in stone rules for you or trying to start female-bashing or anyone bashing for that matter. sorry my limited experience has caused me to come into contact with musically shallow people, and half of them girls. look, i go to at least 3 record stores a day, surf online buying music daily, i purchase some 200 hours per week and own some 8000 cds and 6000 records ( i'm rounding down). i read approximately 15 music magazines on a regular basis and have a veritable library of music books. i also have had many girlfriends over the years, both romantic and girl-frineds. and male-frineds of course. my point is this, after living in 3 different countries and 8 different states, i have found that more guys share my lifestyle/ interests than girls. a small point. yes, with any generalization, there are many exceptions, i'm simply stating what i have found, statistically. no offense meant and really, you're missing the point. om lounge cds are ok but really not that challenging for my tastes. just the other day some blond surfer girl pushed me out of the way and bought all five! of course, i laughed. i owned them too. but when i was broke and the ramones reissues came out, i weighed the options........... someone asked for feedback and i gave it. now i'm defending myself because some conclusions have been leapt to. keep fighting. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

any suggestions for music to do your nails to? I've been looking for that perfect album. The other day I put in that Speedy J album into my little pink boombox, and I got so scared that I accidentally smudged my nail polish. and yes, when I was making my bed the other day, I accidentally put in some Kid606, just because the name sounded so harmless, you know? I had to cover my ears, put the covers over my head and shake uncontrollably until it ended. i propose that to target instances like this, they just put "girl-friendly" stickers on CD's. I bet all that crazy music is going to make me have deformed babies. I should sue!
