these days, most people don't go to shows for the music. these are
events, social gatherings. it's like going to a batman movie with
your friends -- you're not there for the crisp cinematography, but
rather the ritualistic throwing of popcorn and soda at the screen.

i wonder sometimes if some musicians turn their stuff up to
ear-shattering levels just to recover people's attention. a "shut up
and listen" kind of thing... it's kinda ironic having to wear
earplugs if you're there for the sound.
still, it gets back to the question of why electronic musicians even
bother to have live shows. failing technical glitches, is the
highly-programmed/structured music that much different? a majority
seem to be there for the social validation trip.
