Get Heights of Abraham's 'Electric Hush', its tops. If they're cheap sell something and get 'em all, or alternatively, send 'em to me!!

S'alright. Sounded rather good at the time but has been superceded...

Uh-huhuuhu-uh-uh. I remember reading in the NME a while back that Global Goon sold more than the Richard D.James LP. Don't know how true it is though. As for RDJ LP I think its the best and most innvoative thing he's ever done. It sounds like a RDJ/Cylob/Squarepusher soundclash to me. Even a bit of Kosmik Kommie and the other Rephlex influences in there too - easy listening, hardcore jungle-pop. And everyone hates it!

Here's another lab fan! My fave is that 'Music For The Amorphous Body Study Center' Mini LP. Sweet stuff. Anyone heard the High Llama's LP which features Sean O'Hagen who does all the ace Stereolab string arrangements? Liked 'Emperor Tomato Ketchup' too, but there's something a little not quite right about it that I can't put my finger on it. Can't wait for the new LP produced by John McEntire of Tortoise and mixed by my fave Kraut doodlers Mouse On Mars. There's a new MOM single on the way too with vocals from Laetititiitiitiitititia (okay so I don't know how to spell her name!) 'lab. As for the old stuff, I thing Mars Audiac Quintet is top, but the really old stuff tends to sound a little too similar. At least they seem to be moving forward now... Ping Pong should have been No.1! That's all... GrB. New from LWTCDi enterprises, more exciting record reviews of: DJ Krust - Genetic Manipulation EP (proper IDM jungle!) DJ Die - Something Special Roni Size - Fashion Jedi Knights - Big Ones EP Jimi Tenor - Intervisiions LP Secret Weapon - Surgery The Specialist (Dillinja) - Deep and Rolling Karime Kendra - Chemical Imbalance Photek - Ni Ten Ichi Ryu ACR - Soundstation Remixes Vol 2 (by DJ Die/Fila Brazillia/Sons of Samarkland) all in Sammy Rawlins' Jukebox Week 6...plus the usual pointless articles and gibberish. I said influences, not that any of the tracks sound 'exactly' like the artists mentioned. That would make the LP derivative and undoubtably a load of old spanners (an unintentional Black Dog reference!). What I mean is that the fractured beats are somewhat Squarepusherish, and the acid stylee on some of the tracks (Cornish Acid) is like acid which is very like Kommie.

All of the tracks! What makes the RDJ album great is that it makes a good album. Every track is brilliant, which is something I can't say for SAW II, I Care Because You Do, definately not Classics and not even Polygon Window. It works like pop music because the tracks are so short and hook filled that you want to hear them again.

I don't hear it. well I've only heard some kommie stuff and I don't like it much at all.

well, most of the tracks are his best work in a while is what I meant. I don't believe that Logon Rock Witch is one of the best things he has done in a while for instance. but yeah, all the tracks are brilliant. I have to agree with you about I Care, some of the tracks on there I don't like so much, however still I think Surfing On Sine Waves and Classics are all excellent (most tracks, quoth is ok).. Quoth(ep) is mediocre at best I guess if you really scrutinize it because the wooden thump mix is the same as the original really.. may as well just take the original and put it through fx. Bicycle pump meets bucket is great though. -- __ __\ \ Aurafix aka Hillie / PHD ^ DAMONES (aka Rare Guy) / /_\ \ http://www.clark.net/pub/buh/index.html \_____/ >> buh@clark.net >> < > .. >> .<>> >> > , m7= inducing mindwaves.. electronic techno muuusik controlled manually by a p h e x t wi n .. .. . . .
