I think it's great that Matador's releasing Rocket in the Pocket, a subtle, smart and wonderfully engaging electronic record. I've been looking for the thing on vinyl for the last six months, and haven't been able to track it down; now I'll be able to get it for dirt cheap. Seems kinda grumpy and short sighted to chide matador and the like for licensing international stuff over here. Where's the harm? Cheaper price, easier access, more attention, etc. Seems like the only downside is that the obscurists among us are forced to discover music more obscure and unobtainable by those not in-the-know. Boo hoo hoo. Were it not for Matador licensing the great Burger-Ink record, I never would have known about all that Cologne/Harvest stuff that I now love (nor, for that matter, would I have known about Arab Strap a few years back). The rules have changed in being a label, it seems, and where labels were once regional entities documenting the sound of their city, they now document the sound of a few people's exquisite tastes. We all win. Oh, and: if anyone's got a copy of Console's Panorama on vinyl, color me very very interested. Question: David Shea dabbles now and then in electronic dance music. I've got Satyricon and love it -- especially the song called "Q", which is quite a workout. Where else? np: The Spirit of Beige, vol. 1 (Beige Records) rr

About Console.. If Americans would make more of an effort to buy directly from European mailorders, websites, whatever, you would find out it's not that difficult to track down for instance the Console Rocket lp or accompagning 12". it still is available without much problems. I'm just saying this because me personal don't make a problem about writing around the globe to find what I want... And believe me... Console isn't really a ltd edition. And if you want something really badly you certainly don't mind the extra dollar(s) for postage, do you? By my knowledge is Pan or Rama cd only but the real gem, but this time a real collector is the first 12" "Lady Bug" (Payola) which is a classic of mine... Classic of all times even... It's filled with electronic beats, stringsamples working their way through to a final where a guitar (yipppiee) joins the synthlines to a real eargasm. Console did quite a few remixes: on a Fred is Dead 12"(Hausmusik), Notwist: Chemicals 12" (Bigstore, their version of Another Planet is fucking melodrama with tears just around the corner), Tied an Tickled Trio: 12" (Payola). They also appear on several Hausmusik compilations with exclusive tracks and while we're at it... Try to find the Antihund Magazine which is always accompagnied by a compilationtape which always has Consolemembers on it. The Hausmusik/Kollpas/Payola deal: Payola started off as an Hausmusik sublabel... Later on they've been transferred to, I think Kitty Yo. Hausmusik/Kollaps are runned on daily bases by Wolfgang Petters and Thomas Mohr (yep... Mohr music is a label too, and yep... that's the guy). However Kollaps is a project by Kristoph Merk while Hausmusik is more the Wolfgang Petters subject. The details might be a bit diffrent but that's about the red line from the Hausmusik family three. -----Oorspronkelijk bericht----- Van: Randall Roberts <randall.roberts@rftstl.com> Aan: idm@hyperreal.org <idm@hyperreal.org> Datum: dinsdag 8 februari 2000 17:18 Onderwerp: (idm) re: console/ David Shea...
