there is nothing that makes any electronic music 'better' or 'worse' than "real instrument" music. however, I can say from personal experience, that by and large electronic music is more emotionally detached, especially when sequencing is involved, and _especially_ when formulae or generative processes are involved on the same token, it bothers me that so many millions get spent on trying to trick people into thinking all the pop rubbish is 'real' when its had just as much dsp as your average idm release. to avoid flame wars and really clarify my point : there is a certain extremely natural, familiar feeling involved when it sit down and play the piano, that i never seem to find, even when i'm 'playing' a synth rather than sequencing. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
