Agreed... Quick correction: Studio 1 Variationen came from Mike Ink's recordings. There is also CONCEPT1 96:VR that uses the same process on Richie Hawtin tracks. I prefer the latter one. Either way, you might want to check that out. _Weisse Naechte_ and _Totes Rennen_ are at the other end. All of what I have heard is based on repetition and variation. These CDs seem more "arty" to me, versus the name 12"s or Max Ernst & f. which are more functional (hence 12"s I suppose). Grab the _Rosa_ CD to get a sampling of what's on the name 12"s. Then you have the 2 Soul Center full-lengths. They make use of many samples -- such as: a killer funky-stiff beat on "Are You Ready" layered with the beat from Herbie Hancock's "Rockit", and call-and-response from between-song banter on old live soul albums. --Mark --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
