And there's also the fact that the cities & promoters that are willing/able to host these sort of shows are much more concentrated up here in the northeast and along the west coast. You can basically tour for a week or two with a show every night and relatively short drives (2-6 hours) each day. Unless the artists are flying (which is rare), it doesn't make much sense for them to spend two or three days on the road for a single show.
