most people seem to confuse 'remix' with 'cover' ... the concept of
covers has little meaning in most electronic music. most electronic
music should be seen as we see paintings - a finished product, made
the way it is because the artist intended it that way.
most other music is like theatre (which i happen to love, by the
way). you have a script (a score, whatever) and different musicians
can do their version of it. that's a cover
someone correct me if i'm wrong, but that's the way i see it.
nothing wrong with either way of doing things, in my opinion, but the
idea of a cover is to reproduce something, perhaps putting your spin
on it. the idea of a remix is to mix something up and make something
new out of it. rather post-modern.
neither, i think, is better than the other. just different.

actually, IMO, half of the tried by 12 remxes would actually classify
more as covers. i like it, but pretty much all of it just sounds
like examples of what the song would sound like if so-and-so had done
it.
i hope this doesn't start some debate...
