I don't mind people discussing the relevancy of jazz
with the IDM genre on this list. Before we decide what is
kosher and thislisty/off-thislisty, we should actually
decide what the IDM we are talking about _actually_ is.
Which wouldn't be so easy task after all, don't you think?
I think this genre keeps developing with any new style
crossovers (e.g. ambient jungle/artcore, easy listening/IDM,
Carl Craig and Richie Hawtin mixing Mo Wax records, Wagon
Christ going jazz) coming all the time, so it would be only
foolish to strictly limit the discussion to "You shall not
talk about acid jazz on the IDM list" or "You shall not talk
about jungle on the IDM list", etc.
So, as long as people are interested in keeping their
influences wide, discuss them and maybe the backgrounds in
the styles of this music, analyzing and so on, I'm all
for that. As corny as it may sound, let's not forget that
little "I" letter in the name of this list :)
