Probably better suited for the ambient list, but I'm not subscribed and we'll give it a go here first. Can anyone recommend particularly noteworthy ambient releases along these lines: - Aphex "SAW I" and "II" (of course) - Biosphere "Substrata" (is this on LP or just CD?) - Tangerine Dream "Phaedra" and "Rubycon" - Seefeel "Quique" and "Polyfusia" - About any Eno release ever This is about the extent of my ambient crate, although I know there's some really mad stuff out there. Never even heard a FAX release, 'tho they get props on this list all the time. So where does one begin? Relatively obtainable suggestions preferred (i.e. not way out of print and worth a mint). Gracias as usual. ____________________________________ Brock Phillips - bphil@email.unc.edu WXYC 89.3 FM The New Science Experience Tune in every Sunday night 10-12 AM EST http://www.wxyc.org for live RA broadcast Promos, demos, etc. welcome for submission Email for postal address and details... I have virtual state, haven't listened to it much.. but yeah, the conversation is great, although it wears out pretty quick. the second disc is the best, with the 50+min ambient track and then a kickin dance track as far as eno goes, thursday afternoon is what music for airports should have been! paul schutze is *essential* ambience On Thu, 3 September 1998, at 11:06:30, Nate Harrison \[Toshok Laboratories\] wrote:

can't agree more with this! tone caualties re-released alot of material over the past couple of years so its all real easy to find / order. what to get (aside from my 'anything' from schutze standard answer): new maps of hell I apart annihilating angel the above three are great starters... then get the rest! one which you may well want to listen before you buy is nine songs from the garden of welcome lies... its organ music / percussion, appearently all improvised and can be quite difficult to access. i actually enjoyed it but i listened to it at work and it was deemed 'to difficult for the masses' and was advised to not play it again. brap@sonic.net[icq: 12645306] http://www.sonic.net/~brap/ sfwd prod | noisesoundnoise chris g. 1547 boston court #7, santa rosa, ca 95405
