.(AKA BEN HATCHELT) : Everything's Exactly How You

Following their first compilation release some months
ago, Spains Spa.RK label return with their first
artist full-length. .(dot) is the moniker of young
British artist Ben Hatchelt. Across the 7 tracks here
he manages to create a gliding, atmospheric skip
through ambient terrain with a strong emphasis on
spacious harmonies and deep, textured motifs. Three
tracks in, Cant Take You introduces percussion to
proceedings, complete with sombre and restrained
strings, a measured tapped-in beat that brings to mind
one of Gescoms many versions of Keynell. The
atmosphere throughout leans towards the denser side of
ambient, but the execution is strikingly original and
often orchestral. Deep.
