I've had traktor less than a week and have already constructed a 30 track megamix CD for my girlfriend which I am most proud of. Some of the transitions are less than perfect, but for someone who's never got to grips with beatmatching vinyl, it's a godsend to actually be able to prepare these things beforehand and concentrate on the blend. I've now made a CD I can put on after getting hectic and chill to, without the desire to skip anything and without any break to the shmoove.
My only problem is the machine I'm using. It's hardly a powerhouse and towards the end of the mix it started having issues for some reason. I'm not sure why, but as the mix recording file grew, the audio started breaking up now and again. I think it's the dodgy dual soundcard setup I've got running, it usually goes a bit screwy. Also, getting used to the latency with my soundcard / traktor was a bit of a arse, because once I'd got used to pre-empting the beat at one tempo it becomes tricky to remember it remains the same whatever tempo you're at.
Hopefully the next version of traktor will move even further away from a vinyl reality paradigm (for knobs like me who could never use it anyway) and allow more pre-defined cues and loops. mmm. Would be good if it had zero latency on starting sources, too, which perhaps it does on a better configured machine.
By the way, George, Let me know if you find out what that Orange advert music is.
