When I cut a record at Ron Murphy's Sound Enterprise, he had a Neumann
record cutting lathe for sale -- he thought the Hardwax guys were
going to buy it but I don't know if they did. He was asking $40,000.
After you cut a lacquer it needs to be plated with metal, which is another
specialized industrial operation.
Pressing involves large, expensive machinery, careful handling of toxic
substances, and technicians with unique skills.
If you really want to get involved you're talking about a huge investment
of time and money, learning all sorts of skills that have nothing to do
with music.
