hello. i just want to put in a quick "yes please" to posting radio show playlists to this list. AS A READER OF THE IDM LIST seeing playlists helps me find new artists. if i see list of artists that i love, and then a few that i do not know of, it gives good hints on what to check out. we do not have NEARLY enough reviews here, and reading playlists often puts new and unkown artists (or big ones i have never heard) into some kind of context that gives more of a hint of what they sound like than "autechre are the bomb". this is without listening to the shows.. and the playlists certainly give me an indication if i want to listen to someone's show, which of course leads to the exposure of SO MANY artists that we talk about here. AS A PUBLIC RADIO SHOW HOST (very "me me me") i am assuming most folks posting playlists here simply volunteer their time to do a radio show with very little payback (for what it is worth, promos are nice, but i have never really met a public radio show host that is simply working for the promos). that means they are excited about what they do and want to share it with people (gil, of all people, should be familiar with this need to share :). beyond that, playlists help radio show hosts get listeners and expose people to new music -- which is a FUN FUN thing i think... and, of course, they also help the radio show host *get new music* (or emails about new music) to play for people. oh, and for me, i just like to see that there are other people in this world doing the whole silly radio thing with similar tastes to me. no joke, it is a fucking pain in the ass to find people that like the same kinds of music as i do.. it is even harder to find people that host radio shows that play music like i play, and this list has allowed me to see that im not alone in doing what i do (or did, i guess). PERHAPS AS AN ARTIST it has to be nothing but ENCOURAGING for list members in bands to be reading through email and see their names pop up on playlists. in so many ways, this can only help them, and i think most of the playlists that get posted here PLAY THE MUSIC OF THE PEOPLE N THE LIST. A LITTLE SUGGESTION someone once wrote me and asked me to put "PLAYLIST" as the first word of posts with playlists. they were really nice about it, so i did. by doing this, i allowed folks to run filters against those emails. too, too tired, chris. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
