Years about done and everyone else seems to be publishing their Year End List. Good way to share and get caught up w/new music. I feel like I missed tons of stuff this year but I always do. Can't say I've listened to a ton of *IDM* but I bet you have and I'd love to know about it. Here's what I enjoyed this year: IDM/electronica *Autechre - NTS Session* *Topdown Dialectic - Topdown Dialectic* *Foodman - Aru Otoko No Densetsu* *Jon Hassell - Listening to Pictures* *Gabor Lazar - Unfold* *Richard Devine - Sort\Lave* rap: *Armand Hammer - Paraffin* *Pusha T - Daytona* *Curren$y + Freddie Gibbs - Fetti* *Nostrum Grocers - Nostrum Grocers* *Noname - Room 25* Wire magazine type shit: *Anne Guthrie - Brass Orchids* *Toshimaru Nakamura - Re-Verbed (NIMB 9)* *Eli Keszler - Stadium* *Tom Rainey Obbligato - Float Upstream* *Sarah Davachi - Gave in Rest* *Tetuzi Akiyama + Noel Akchote - Tetuzi & I (A Tokyo Evening)* *Mark Fell - Intra* popish *Grouper - Grid of Points* *Eiko Ishibashi - The Dream My Bones Dream* I got really into the Dead Inside, Pure and This is How it Feels by Golden Paliminos this year. Incredible snapshot of NY at the time - appropriately overwrought but is usually compelling, funky and menacing. Two disappointments for me this year was Thomas Fehlmann's output (a solo record plus a collab with Terence Dixon) and Three/Three by Dabrye. Former just didn't have the depth of his older work plus some bad riffs and the latter was hurt by having half the MCs be REALLY bad (not the first time for him). Hopefully we get a Three/Three instrumental edition.
