It looks like I'm in the market for some CD players with pitch control. Even though I'm a vinyl junkie, I'm planning to move and cannot take my tables with me at first. So, in order to satisfy my need to spin I'm going to have to try out CD players for a little while. I really like Pioneer and Denon. They can be dual or individual. Can anybody point me in the direction of a good model number? Where is the best place to mail order them from? I figure you guys are the best people to ask... Please let me know... The Pioneer CDJ-100 is a great unit: http://pioneerprodj.com/products/cdj100/cdj100.mv Everyone I know who spins CDs uses Pioneers, and a lot of venues seem to use 'em in their house systems as well. I have a pair of the CDJ-700s, which have the same interface but are top loading instead of front loading. They also have a loop feature which the 100 doesn't, but unless you know you really need it the 700 isn't worth the extra money (~$500). Also, I actually prefer the front loading mechanism, it's quieter and keeps the dust out better. If I were making the buying decision again I'd go with the 100s over my 700s. www.musiciansfriend.com has the CDJ-100 for $299 right now, which is a great price. If you don't want to deal with mail order, you can print out the online price and take it to your local Guitar Center, they will usually match. dan On Thu, 14 Mar 2002, Pedro Cevallos wrote:

as dan pointed out, pioneer cdj-100's are the industry standard workhorse cd decks with pitch control. i've had mine for a couple of years and they make me happy. i am also very happy with their front-loading nature, their portability, and their simple interface. the other pioneers (apart from the 1000's) all top-load, and that makes a big WHUNK when you are changing cds during chill sets. it's sort of distracting in any situation. -rachel (aka dj pie) piesarenice.net -- "at this time you can feel balance strength and sphere peaceful levitating the window." --from the instructions sheet for my "magnetic suspension lamp" On Thu, 14 Mar 2002, Pedro Cevallos wrote:

It seems that most people agree that this is the unit to go with. I keep pricing them all over the internet but I can't seem to get them under $300. This is still a little pricey for me because I'm not completely switching from vinyl to CDs. In essence I need some CD players with pitch control that I can spin on for the next 4 months until I can move all my vinyl and turntables. Can anybody suggest what Denon model might work best for me? I'm looking for dual CD player unit with pitch control. As always, all leads are appreciated... The simple solution would be to look for some of whatever you want on eBay, and then just take good care of them. After the 4 months or so are up, sell them again. You'll probably make back most of what you spent. I believe that the answer to questions like that is the new final scratch by stanton. I am sure you have heard of it already but just a quick overview.... you can still copy all of your vinyl to cd audio medium you can still by vinyl that is not available on cd you can still by cd's that are not available in vinyl you can make/copy/trade mp3's and use them also play them all on turntables without loosing the feel of records... http://namm.harmony-central.com/WNAMM02/Content/Stanton/PR/Final-Scratch.html only costs 500$ -Joel Pedro Cevallos <pedro_cevallos@hotmail.com> wrote: >The Pioneer CDJ-100 is a great unit:

any moderately new denon is good. 2500, 2600, something like that. avoid americandj products, they're cheap knock-offs, and work like it. hs -- _____________________________ fossil fuel for fossil people --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
