Hello, I'm looking for ambient electronic music without a pulse or a beat. AFX's 'selected ambient works' is precisely the kind of music that doesn't fit my criteria despite its title. I mean, I like it, but I want to listen to music that can help me focus while working. Beats don't get me focused at all. Stuff like Lull, Monoloake's no-beat tracks, some Eno records, and (thanks to you, people of the list) 'Texturen' by Atom and 'Dwell Tevvel Strucures' by Arovane is exactly the kind of music I'm searching for. Let me know if you have any recommandations or URLs to share. Thanks! B.

So, if you're going down the path of Basinski and piano styled works, i guess some ambient/neo-classical stuff needs to be mentioned as well as some of my fav ambient albums that i list to when i need to work on various projects. Ben Woods - Moments and also Things Weren't Always This Way Nymh (Ben Woods) - Realms of Detachment Anything by Nils Frahm Tu M' - Monochromes Vol. 1 (very Basinski) Brian McBride - When the Detail Lost It's Freedom and also The Effective Disconnect A Winged Victory for the Sullen Adam Bryanbaum Wiltzie - Travels in Constants Anything by Stars of the Lid, especially Tired Sounds Of <-- I'd take this as the perfect ambient album. Manual - Confluence - Such a great ambient album! Eno - Music for Airports Eno - Ambient On Land On 27 April 2016 at 17:03, <ben@diamondste.in> wrote:

beat me to mentioning Roach, Rich and Radigue Kevin Drumm's Imperial Horizon is extremely good. Stephan Mathieu's Remain and A Static Place are excellent, both static and dense I doubt he'd want to be labeled ambient but if you're listening on speakers, not headphones, Phil Niblock is incredible. i know this might seem totally cliche, and might not be mentioned on this board, but pete namlook (sadly departed) and his huge discography should hold some gems for you. obviously you are looking for a specific, "sub genre." if i may, the fax label i one huge melting pot for a myriad of ambient. i recommend you start by reading the reviews by fans that's hosted on hyperreal. the catalogue is large and i could never giver you any better review than anyone on that board. i would say for starters, look at his solo works on the, "ps," label, for there are two others. i can't think of anything off the head except for, i think there is a series called, "new organic life, " and also, the time help true masterpieces of, "silence." hope this helps! peace!

I'm a huge fan of Tim Hecker. Anything off of one his last two albums; Virgins and his recently released Love Streams. If you work backwards from there, then your ambient/drone cravings should continue to be satisfied. https://youtu.be/xRtZSLo8A68 Mem On 27 April 2016 at 19:48, myopically wandering <versefreeze@gmail.com> wrote:

Hello guys, Apologies for my delayed reaction. I wanted to thank every one of you who took a moment to make a suggestion about the music I was looking for. I was ignorant of most of the names you suggested (except Radigue, Tim Hecker and Eno). Special thanks to Liam F., Chris T. and Nathan J. for suggesting *lists//*of musicians and albums, and to 'Myopically wandering' for offering me a way of digging into ambient by myself. I regularly listen to what you guys sent, and I love almost everything so far. Thank you again for your promptness to answer and for sharing. Love from France, B. I've written some beatless ambient. The best examples: https://julianastein.bandcamp.com/track/number-6 ; https://julianastein.bandcamp.com/track/valli ; https://ribbonsofsong.bandcamp.com/track/eleanor-island I'm working on a lot of new beatless ambient stuff too. But, for the most part, those are my best thus far. If you would like I can keep you posted on my progress. As other artists go I really enjoy Bubble ( https://bubble9.bandcamp.com/ ). Great droney stuff that still has lots of texture and movement without having beats. Some of the tracks on Max Richter's latest work, *SLEEP*, are thoroughly beatless (and 20 minutes long). There are no 'beats' proper anywhere in the album, but repetitive phrases for much of the 8-hour piece.
