Herein is the final reminder for what will surely be a groundbreaking performance by the German duo Funkstorung. They will be performing tonight with vocalist Enik, along with Bass Player, Andreas Kellner. Local Favorites Kudante and Yip-Yip will be opening tonight's procession with the sounds that have made them, well Local Favorites! All of the festivities will begin at 9:00pm at the BackBooth which is located in Downtown Orlando at 37 West Pine Street. Tix at the door will be $15. And all 18+ heads will be granted entrance with proper ID. We're excited to be hosting such a great line-up tonight, and can't wait to see you all there tonight. Remember this is YOUR scene. It is what you create, and we're happy to be creating it with you. The scene belongs to YOU. Egyptian Zombie Robot Party Machine loves you. See you tonight. ++++++++ Ian Monroe --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

sponsorship from magzines like xlr8r for a start, telling us how hip and trendy to be without an inkling of what producers actually sound like, or whether they think about anything other than being adored....hey kids if you're into this genre then try this cool sub genre, there's even trousers to match..like others have said, drop the hype...it's just branding for those who want to live life as an advert.

From now on, only starving artists, pizza boys and frustrated programmers are allowed to post to this list. No artists trying to earn a living are welcome. -----Original Message----- From: folk devil [mailto:folkdevil_23@hotmail.com] Sent: Friday, June 18, 2004 2:47 PM To: idm@hyperreal.org Subject: Re: [idm] Funkstorung tonight - ORLANDO

This is the stupidest argument to come across the list yet. What? Are you still in high school? Rebel without a clue? Corporations like Enron are one thing but xlr8r? Warp? Caroline? How the hell else to people out side the "geek circle" find out about this music? Are all idm acts suppose to be "Indie" starving artists? The hell with that!!! I am stoked to see xlr8r, URB, television ads and MTV (yes I said it) bringing idm and techno into their mainstream scope. More power to them and more exposure to music that matters. And people wonder why nobody knows this music. Good music was ment to be heard and to be heard in this day and edge requires marketing and $$$. People that understand this, like Funkstorung, aren't "selling out". Their simply taking the next step toward a CAREER in music. You can't survive of the "promotions" of Soulseek downloads, websites and email lists.

BTW: I think new Funkstorung album (Disconnected) is brilliant. Finally an IDM act that conprehends that every song on the album doesn't have to sound the fucking same and switching up genres isn't taboo. As for the overly critisized vocals on Disconnected and newer IDM acts in general (Dntel, Telefon Tel Aviv) yall player hatin' geeks need to get over the fact that electronic music doesn't have to be instrumental. Long live the human voice....especially in electronic music.

It sucks.

No, it doesn't have to be instrumental to be good: the Telefon Tel Aviv just plain blows. With or without the vocals, which in that case, ~do~ suck. seek --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
