it's just the one track on the safety scissors record.. don't get me
wrong, I love the rest of it, but that song (checking my copy for the
title...) "your beautiful feet" makes my jaw clench the lyrics are so bad.
same with the smash tv track - I've got nothing against the vocoder vocal
treatments, but the lyrical content is so awful I can't even think of an
appropriate adjective for it. of course now I realize that I had
misidentified the song, it's not "nobody" that I take issue with, it's
"what about me," from which I will now quote:
I don't know what you want x3
I don't know what you need
heaven alone, knows the answer
but baby, what about me x2
but baby, do you really want
do you really want to see me cry
etc...
drives me fucking nuts. here are the safety scissors lyrics for
comparison.
I'm a puddle, beneath your feet
you walk over and over me
I'm a puddle, down on the street
watch where you're standing
I'm six feet deep.
arrggggggghh! I know, good/bad taste is a fine, fine line. amusingly,
someone from plug research wrote to me and accused me of "not getting"
safety scissors, so let me just re-state .. I like the safety scissors
record, a lot. it's one of my favorite plug research releases. I like
his voice. and I like smash TV... I just find the lyrics above to be
completely intolerable.
that's all.
