interesting... the only safety scissors tracks that really held my interest on the plug research full-length were the ones you disliked so much. the rest of it was ok too, but these were the most interesting because they strayed from the formula the most.... it's the fact that his voice is not the best that makes it work for me though :-) i am listening to the smash TV 12" right now for the first time. the A1 won't thrill you no doubt because it's the same version on the full-length... but the modeselektor remix is pretty interesting. it's a slightly more IDM-influenced reworking, less dancefloor... and the vocals are played down a lot, less integral to the track. the vocals are dominant on the other 2 versions on the flip, and barbara morgenstern actually adds (presumably her own) female vocals to it. it's an interesting variation but entirely successful... however, this was again one of my favorite tracks on the Smash TV disc... so i enjoyed it throughout more or less. The Modeselektor mix is the best, with the Grom B1 mix coming in close 2nd. i'm actually sort of surprised you like Smash TV much at all if you dislike the vocoder vocal treatments, only because it seemed like such a regular thing on that album, every other track practically. ("I Love You Now" remains one of my favorite BPitch selections!) Actually the Electrified CD is one of the most interesting additions to the whole new wave electro crossover thing, really strange sounds, weird vocal treatments, etc., without completely retreading what's gone before, or rather instead creating something that sounds to my ears genuinely new. And as a final aside, the Modeselektor 12" (In Loving Memory) which just came out a few weeks ago is excellent! matt _________________________________________________________________ MSN Photos is the easiest way to share and print your photos: http://photos.msn.com/support/worldwide.aspx --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
