Picked up a new Stewart Walker 12" last night -- I forget the label, something about Tekfive maybe? Really lovely minimal techno, with the expected Chain Reaction/Studio 1 overtones, but still having a quality all its own. I think this is my favorite of all the Stewart Walker records I've heard so far. Kit Clayton's new 12" on Pole's Scape label is also great. Techno-dub in a similar vein as his Mimic & the Model record, but a little tighter. Has anyone heard his new full-length on Drop Beat? And is this available on vinyl? Finally, and in a totally different vein, anyone heard the new Kid Loco 2xLP? phil

Midwesterners -- Stewart Walker will be performing live in Iowa City September 4th, 1999 at Gabe's Oasis. Also that night: Kelvin Larkin's Iowa debut. Kelvin is Kenny Larkin's brother, and an excellent techno DJ in his own right. Directions, assistance with places to stay if you're interested in making the trip -- email me.

Philip: That would be the Texas based Tektite label. It's operated by Merrick Brown who admins the Global Techno list. Germany's Force Inc is releasing Stewart Walker's Nevermore 4 track EP later in August (a more dance-oriented Stewart Walker), and Tektite and Mille Plateaux are releasing his Stabiles full length in late September. The album is rhythmic, but it's not as dance oriented as the Force Inc EP. The Force Inc EP is online now in RA on Cognition; Stabiles will be going online soon. Tektite is releasing the Walker album on CD and a sampler remix EP will be coming out on vinyl. Mille Plateaux will be releasing the album on CD and vinyl formats on their end. Re: the Kit Clayton mini album. I think promos are floating around, but it, AFAIK, hasn't been officially released yet. Kit is in Germany for 7 weeks touring. Hope this helps. Andrew Duke :) Philip Sherburne wrote:

I don't own of this guy's 12"es (that will change soon) but Walker performed live recently in LA, along with Lexaunchoo, Phoenecia, and FunkI'mborung. IMO Walker was the best performance of the night. I spoke with Stewart after the show was over and he mentioned a full length comming out on Mille Plateaux I believe. later, gil (a new S.Walker fan) np: i-f Playstation
