Um. I've got a question about the reissuances of Aphex Twin's "Selected Ambient Works 85-92" and "Classics". Their call numbers are (DIST 003 CD) and (DIST 004 CD), respectively with the label of (re)issuance being DISTANCE. Can anyone tell me about this label and how they worked out a deal with R&S to re-press these two albums? Also, what country is this label out of? ecnatsid. .`-). | ; christopher miller o o' evil@digital.net = ' on: "Strange Or Funny Ha Ha?" by Bisk

From what I gather, Distance is a European (French?) label set up by Tower Records (!). They did a bunch of bad comps, and a slew of R&S titles (both 69 CD's among others). I know that for a while, the R&S licensed titles were only available in Towers, in fact they were a required buy by each store's respective import buyer. The whole deal is fairly offensive. They are cheap, though. Full lengths are about $15 POP stateside. Sounds like the kind of thing those of us who have any sort of anti-corporate sentiment should boycott. Otherwise, they're exactly the same as the R&S versions and a good deal. -Keith __________________________________________________ Reckankreuzungsklankewerkzeuge.________________________ _________________________________PO Box 382864-2864 Cambridge, MA 02238-2864____________________________ _______________________________________________USA _______________Main URL: http://www.tiac.net/users/sheket __________________________________________________

How can one distinguish between the vinyl re-issues and the original release? My recently purchased copy says nothing about Distance. ----------
