Being a fresh addition to this list, I would like to take the opportunity of asking you guys if the Atom Heart album "Dos Tracks :)" is worth getting hold of. I have heard very little by this man (in terms of actual work, that is), and the aforementioned album is the only one that is reasonably easy for me to get, at a fairly reasonable price (I live in the Northern part of Sweden, which offers pathetic record stores, forcing me to order via the brilliant "Skivhugget" which resides in Gothenburg. It's where I get all my records really). Skivhugget has "Dos Tracks :)" in stock, along with the collaboration "Second Nature" by Atom Heart/Bill Laswell/Tetsu Inoue. They have the Laswell/Inoue "Cymatic Scan" in there as well... What do these records sound like? Worth the money? Any information/opinions would be greatly appreciated. Galuf_

I have Cymatic Scan by Laswell/Inoue. It's dark ambient in its origin. I do not think that it is possible to describe dark ambient albums much. I'll just mention that I like it. It has that cold and lost feeling. Alien np. KLF - chill out

I wouldn't say that it is an absolute necessity(especially not if you have the masterpiece "Schnittstelle"), but it is all the same a wonderful record. A bit different from the other recent RI releases, while Atom Heart has moved a bit from weird melodies and instead focusses more on glitches and crackles. He still manages to create songs that are much more pop than on glitch oriented records by other artists such as Oval and the raster/noton gang. I'd say buy it. You can never have too much Atom Heart. P --- Mattias Viklund <matte.viklund@telia.com> wrote:

Okay, thanks :) Now what's really eating me is the fact that I found quite a lot of other releases by this wondrous man at Skivhugget, made under his innumerable aliases, none of which I've heard before. This complicates things a bit, so I thought I'd just follow up my original inquiry... Which of the following titles is the most 'essential' one? Now I do know that there's quite a difference in style which sets these titles apart, but which one(s) is/are the most solid one(s)? Some of the records sport quite a hefty price, so I'd better move with caution. Which ones do you recommend? Thanks. I can agree with Spirits recommendations if you are after synth pop (especially Render is awesome), but if you want more of what makes atom heart Unique I would go for these: Flanger - Templates (NTONE) Mono TM (RI) Naturalist (RI) Schnittstelle (RI) I also recommend the Se?or Coconut releases. Check www.datacide.org for reviews of releases on Rather Interesting.
