Not even close to electroclash. Nitzer Ebb is definitely an apt comparison. Remember Die Warzau? Maybe even old NiN without all the screamy vocals. Club-y type industrial. Not bad for what it is. Rather short at only 1/2 hour even with the so called hidden trtack.

Short, shameful confession: Die Warzau's _Engine_ blew my mind when it came out and at least some of it -- notably "Liberated" and "Ultraplanet" -- holds up for me today. They just released a new album on their own indie label, Pulseblack (http://www.pulseblack.com/). I listened to a track on the website, and it was absolutely awful, even worse that "All Good Girls" or whatever the hell it was called. in case anyone was curious enough to check out said track on said website, it is in fact awful. absolutely awful, though? when measuring the awfulness of music such as this, one must never forget that in order for something be absolutely awful, that is, more awful than anything else ("pure awful"), that something has to be more awful than nelson(1). i can say with absolute certainty that this was not more awful than nelson. Though I haven't listened to Die Warzau in about 10 years, I remember seeing them open for NIN in January 1991 in a tiny club in St. Louis on the "Now I'm Nothing" tour. Die Warzau played an awesome set with Chris Vreann playing live digital drums - I was pretty amazed at the time. Then Reznor (with Richard Patrick on guitar) played a set with all 10 songs in his repetoire at the time. Ah, to be 15 again... it's too bad Die Warzau, who seemed to have a lot of talent, never left the Wax Trax industrial rock rut. I can't believe people still follow that sort of thing. -Mike --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

funny, i saw the same show in february of that year at the academy in NYC, which has now been disneyfied out of existence. chemlab were on before DW. great show. i'd love to have a video of that.

yeah, i got over their "disco rigido" album in a few months. i do love the old wax trax! sound (PTP anyone?), but i don't think they were ever responsible for "industrial rock"...except sister machine gun i guess. that crime mostly falls on ministry(post -wt) and skinny puppy as far as invention, and re-constriction and cleopatra as far as disseminating more versions of the same. the party's over. d. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I got it about a week ago. It isn't all that bad. True, not the best thing I've heard (perhaps not much progression since _Engine_, especially given there has been 10 years in between), but not that bad. Perhaps yours (and mine) tastes have changed in those many years, while theirs have not. Stagnation perhaps? Anyway, it is 16 tracks long and even features "All Good Girls pt 2". Which seems to be your fave, huh? :) New Everplastic to be forthcoming as well, which should be interesting. Me. (Go State! Beating Minnesota right now, who woulda thought it!) --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
