The existence of the RDJ track, "Aphex Airlines," has already been mentioned. It is very much unlike anything he's released in the past, to my knowledge anyways. It's a beatless, noizy track, kinda like what I understand earlier Zoviet France to sound like. He plays with the extremely high frequencies *and* extremely low frequencies at the same time, which makes it very difficult to keep your bearings. It's grating at times, but it does shift around a bit and it does hold your interest. It clocks in at 6:18. I love it, personally, but it doesn't really fit in with the topic of this list. The Seefeel track is very minimal, even for them. Imagine something from _Quique_, slow it down a bit, and remove the quitar. There you go. I like it, but not as much as their other stuff. It's called "Lief." This pair of CDs highlights those darker, more unpleasant aspects of ambient music. There are a couple of noizy tracks, but most are just unhappy and disorienting. Fun for the whole family. :-) Virgin AMBT 4, 7243 8 39810 2 1. Other artists on the comp are: KK Null/Jim Plotkin, Jim O'Rourke, Ice, Raoul Bjo:rkenheim, Zoviet France, Labradford, Techno Animal, Paul Schu:tze, Scorn, Disco Inferno, Total, Nijiumu, AMM, 'O'Rang, E.A.R., Sufi (from AR Kane), David Toop/Max Eastley, Main, Final, Lull, and Thomas Ko:ner. - Adam J Weitzman INDIVIDUAL, Inc. weitzman@individual.com

correct me if i am wrong, but aren't the combination of extremely high frequencies and extremely low frequencies really bad for your speakers? i seem to remember spiral tribe doing this sort of stuff for the explicit purpose of destroying speakers. this was mentioned in some interview i have with them. -- :::ryan pals . \ ` ' / . :::fk453@cleveland.Freenet.Edu ._` __^__ '_. :::the universe flows toward the [()=()] :::ultimate conclusion /_____\

I don't see how this could be a problem for your speakers, provided you your speakers can handle the load. What you have to worry about more is either sending way too much power into your woofers, or sending too much power or a 'clipped' signal into your tweeters (the same thing kind of). As long as your equipment is properly matched, everything should sound fine, no matter how intense it is.
