Being that I live in Canada, I've just recently picked up this amazing CD (which has probably been around Britain for about a year) called Experimental Audio Research. Not fearing the flames of IDMers, I will go on to say that this is primarily guitar-based but totally effects-heavy ambience. Main persons responsible are Sonic Boom (ex-Spacemen 3) and Kevin Shields (My Bloody Valentine). Very much like Sonic Boom's EP Ecstacy in Slow Motion (sampled by Irresistable Force in 'Symphony in E') Drones like you wouldn't believe, some use of samplers or analogue synths but still 10x better than most of the 'ambient' stuff that I've heard of late. 4 tracks, about 50-60 minutes. Get it!

Hey there: E.A.R. "Mesmerised" 1993/4? No date but I'm pretty sure it's 1994 Sympathy for the Record Industry Records (No Address) w/Sonic Boom, Kevin Shields, Eddie Prevost (A.M.M.), Kevin Martin (God) and others 1:DMT Symphony 2:Mesmerise 4901 3:California Nocturne 4:Guitar Feedback Manipulation approx run time 65 min Sorry if this doesn't help, there just isn't a lot of info on the disc. Ask at a shop. If not i can copy it to tape for you for postage, handling and the cost of a tape (if all else fails). Good luck Brad Ps Do they have anything else out?
