Hey hey! I bought New Electronica 3 on Friday. "A Moment In Time" just blows me away, that sax solo and everything. I don`t think much of that Orb track by the way, too dull and no groove. And did you see the Orb in NME? The titles for their album tracks etc? They`re just taking the piss! "Bang`er`n`chips"?? sad men... And I also got "Reflections" by As One (aka Kirk Gegiorgio). This album is definitely on my wavelength! Kirk believes that techno ought to be soulful music, but this doesn`t mean "let`s stick in some sax samples or a diva", it means that the album is full of warm textures and nifty melodies. Much recommended, especially for fans of Detroit stuff and Black Dog! I also got this American mag called URB. It`s pretty damn marvellous if you ask me! I had seen stuff about it on IDM and hadn`t thought anything of it but I found it in Tower and bought it... I saw TeeP`s note, and Ben`s e mail no! Wierd! And I really like the musical diversity as well, with hip-hop, jazz, techno, reggae and ambient presented. Smart! OK someone asked about the Deepside remixes of "The Art Of Stalking" by Suburban Knight on FNAC. Well I reckon they`re OK but I still prefer the original mix. On the other hand, the original is fuckin` good and hard to top anyway... I`d recommend it. I desperately want the "World 2 World" EP on UR after hearing "Jupiter Jazz". Has anyone else got this? Is it class or what? Turns out that Megatripolis are expanding their record label (Dream) by s setting up an ambient sub-label and a trance sub-label. And I`m in control of the ambient sub-label! Wicked! I`ve got to listen to demos and decide what to put out etc etc. So I`m looking for demo tapes of original, quality ambient music. That`s all from me! Oh, and can someone in the UK tell me how one can get onto internet with a Mac and a modem? I don`t know cos I`m a student but Mixmaster Morris is trying to get onto the net and wants some help. The world according to Brendan Edward Nelson:

Our tastes seem to be in opposition in this case. IMHO, "A Moment in Time" sounds like the sort of cheesy Kenny-G-esque slop they put on as a bed right after the advertisements on some late-night psychiatric radio call-in program. Not that it's especially bad as that genre goes, I just don't dig that kind of thing. The Geep track ("writer and producer unknown," nudge nudge), on the other hand, is very nice. If this is the Orb's new direction I can't wait to hear some proper new stuff...it's very synthetic but it still retains a certain organic quality. The other specific thing I have to mention about this comp (generally, I think it's a damn fine comp) is that the Sandoz track on it isn't quite up to Kirk's usual quality standards, but it's still head and shoulders over most of the stuff out there today. I've got it; and yes it is class. All 4 tracks! I thought it was quite a bit different from previous UR stuff. Almost kinda mellow. greg 3 0 3

Ya! This is the only track I've heard by UR, and I love it! They have any LPs out there? -djkc
