The last time I was in Berkeley, Rasputin's had at least eight or ten copies (on +8) priced at $14.99. I like the album a lot, it's got that quality so rare in intelligent dance music of not overreaching...kind of like 'In Dub' in that sense, not that I mean to suggest that Mr. Paap is as good as RSW. I don't understand that. Acid jazz really is fundamentally different from techno. Or is the American definition of acid jazz different from the European? Jon S. Drukman writes:

Maybe it's because it's so 'different' (Yeah, I know VERY BAD description)??? Most folks here are like, 'HUH??' when they hear the word techno... Thanks to all who wrote in on Speedy J and A. Jazz. I thought the Speedy J sucker was on some rare hard to get import label. I'll wait for the A. Intelligence release here in the US on Warp/TVT/WAX TRAX!. Thanks again, Porter

i believe this situation arises because raves out here (west coast) sometimes feature techno and acid jazz in the same evening... usually the party might wind down with acid jazz rather than more mellow techno.

yes. but the CD is not widespread here in america. in fact, i've only ever seen three copies, two of which were promos. (the third one is the one i bought.) i've never seen the Warp release either. so actually "ginger" does seem to be something of a rarity. i still don't know that it's worth $28, rare or not.
