Hello everyone, I have recently realized that when you own records, you also need someplace to put them. I wanted to ask all of you what you use for record shelves. The sleeves I use are the ones on www.turntablelab.com If you go into the online store, check out their accessories. I use those ABS stock white sleeves for my good records, and regular sleeves for my other vinyl. Then I just keep my records in a hard case. Its made by Oddysey. I had one of their plastic clear ones, and i just broke that.I also have a smaller bag I carry arround from T5S when I go to gigs and stuff. Hope that helps. -Rob Jonathan Ackerman wrote:

I forgot to write the most important thing. I made a shelf from plywood just like this one http://store.yahoo.com/prodjcase/djresh4x2.html Much cheaper to just go to home depot and buy the stuff yourself. I just used their dimensions. My roommate has a shelf from westelm that he uses to keep his record collection. I don't know which one off hand though. -Rob Rob wrote:

If you got a little dough to spend, IKEA makes a bookshelf called an Expedit that's perfect for storing records. IIRC, they make it in a couple of different sizes... -paul peterson np-Prefuse73 Surrounded by Silence...why has there been no too little discussion on this yet? I got a bunch of plastic filing crates from Staples like this: http://www.staples.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/StaplesProductDisplay? prodCatType=0&storeId=10001&catalogId=10051&langId=-1&productId=37603 You can see in the picture they have a couple of them stacked up with the opening facing out. They have little plastic posts on the side that fit together so you can lock a few of the suckers together. I've got a two crate high by four crate wide wall right now, plus a couple of extra ones closer to the decks for the stuff I got more recently. -- Tim Moore --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I use the old cement blocks w/ 2 x 4s method. It's stable, cheap, and works really well. I use 3-2 x 4s for the bottoms, and 2 cement blocks per shelf. Record fit perfectly with a good 5 inches to spare at the top. My personal shelf is 5 stories high, and holds a load of records. I highly recommend using this method, unless you have the $ to buy a professional shelf. As I'm sure you know, don't put your records in the basement, or they could mold (I've seen it and it's not fun to say the least). Best of luck ... Mike Jedlicka www.opticecho.com

Does anyone have any recommendations for cd storage systems? Here's an example of how I currently store my recently purchased cds: http://www.eleventhvolume.com/miscellany/ims/stack.jpg This is due to having run out of room in my ikea cd cabinets which aren't flexible enough anyway. Yeah, those are the classic "big record shelves". Definitely super useful. I've got a situation though myself where i have a ton of records, but that ikea shelf doesn't really fit in one piece in my current house. My solution was to get these modular cubes they sell at target. Its more expensive per cube than the ikea ones, but they're more flexible in that i can stack them in a way that fits my space. - cutups --- WRECKED diy electronic music & media http://wrecked-distro.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "jeff Birgbauer" <jeff@autechre.info> To: "do id" <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Tuesday, March 29, 2005 12:17 PM Subject: Re: [idm] record shelves
