Solvent's CD, Apples&Synthesizers was one of the better releases last year..a few really quality "electro" tunes on there with some nice old school vocoder... ----- Original Message ----- From: "andrew jones" <liminal18@mac.com> To: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Sunday, January 16, 2005 10:34 PM Subject: Re: [idm] searching for jason amm/solvent e-mail...

I'm a huuuge Solvent fan! "Discovering" him (via the excellent "Snow Robots" compilations) has been my musical highlight over the last few years. I was crushed, recently, when he had to cancel his two London dates, after frying his synths on the first leg of his European mini-tour in Madrid! I just hope he can repair them, so that he might tour again one day. I know that he used to hate touring, but had got a taste for it, after a few successful shows in the U.S. last year. I just hope this experience doesn't put him off again! However, IMHO I'd have to say that "Apples and Synthesizers" isn't as good as "Solvent City", his previous release - that album is just perfect! - One of the few albums EVER where there hasn't been a sub-standard track thoughout! With "Apples..." there are 3 or 4 standout tracks and some of the rest just feel like "fillers". Fortunately, the standouts, like "My Radio" and "Operating Ease" are so good that they rescue the album. I've recently discovered Figurine, too - a bit late late, but...! Also, anyone who likes Solvent might also be amused by Vic Twenty: http://www.victwenty.com/ Does anyone have any other recommendations for twee electropop? (...other than "fuck off to another list!") I love it! :-) Cheers, Clive ============================================================ From: "Greg" <cameron69@comcast.net> Date: 2005/01/17 Mon AM 06:59:31 GMT To: "andrew jones" <liminal18@mac.com> CC: <idm@hyperreal.org> Subject: Re: [idm] searching for jason amm/solvent e-mail...
