easy, locate yourself in a city known for its cheap rent, start your own influential cult band, achieve international underground success, invest your hard-earned money in a location of your choice, et voilà. (for the record, casa del popolo & la sala rossa are not "GY!BE-owned", they are owned by mauro pezzente (who is indeed part of GY!BE) & his partner kiva stimac (who is not, as far as i know). it's a friendly place & you need to book it at least 2-3 months in advance. check http://www.casadelpopolo.com/ for booking details, as well as their schedule & other info.) have a nice day ~ david --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Montreal people are lucky. You get to see great IDM and Indie acts every week. You have GYBE, David Kristian, Deadbeat and Jetone living in the same city. A lot of these artists don't tour or get to cross the border to play shows. I want to move to Montreal. :p david turgeon <dt@electrocd.com> wrote:

I have been following Alien8 and Sam Shalabi since he is part of both GY!BE and Kristian Shalabi St-Onge. I'm not so much into Post Rock as I am into IDM and Drill n' Bass, but they are making some very beautiful music. I alwo hear A Silver Mount Zion, but found it a little less poweful than GY!BE. Thank you for the Black Market info. Are you at all familiar with Pivot? He has remixed David Kristian's I work for Shadow and he has just uploaded a killer Drill n' Bass track to the David Kristian Yahoo group's files. I am seriously considering leaving MI. and also.. ambient tuesdis evening at pasalymany... . ambient tuesdis is a night of experimental sounds (though idm focused) with locals moohk and mitmat + various guests. the ambiance of pasalymany is generally like walking into a david lynch flick, and the range of diversity of guests is rather extrordinary. described in the hour as: "More on the heady, experimental tip (read: music for nutjobs), Sokos and Moohk's Ambient Tuesdays unfold weekly at Pasalymany (5845 du Parc)." music performances are sometimes dj'ing, sometimes live, and sometimes spontaneous jams occur. often there are visual projections. miscellaneous mischief of all sorts, and its all free. (past performers have included dj sokos, e may, paul phreak, mr. kim, rich williams, ohio speak wio, lost city, meek....) as well, approximately once a month ambient tuesdis comes out of the closet as the montreal sluts against capitalism/ ass pirates bring you their queerbient tuesdis/ gay 'shame' extravaganza (check out: www.geocities.com/slutsagainstcapitalism). if you would be interested in participating in any way, please contact me. i am especially looking for experimental djs (focus on idm/ ambient) but open to infinite possibility. caught in the riptides of history... soon to drown at sea... ambient tuesdis every tuesday moohk mitmat 10:30pm admission free 5845 du parc (intersection of parc & bernard) _________________________________________________________________ MSN 8 helps eliminate e-mail viruses.
