yeah, on that tip, pete rock & cl smooth's 'return to the mecca', and 'the main ingredient' are worth checking out too. as for newer stuff i'd also recommend zion i's first, 'mind over matter' (haven't heard the new one yet), mos def, and black star. i dig the anticon and def jux stuff too but not sure if they really jive with blackalicious' sound. albert

i wanted to throw in that J-Live's new album "All Of The Above" is otherworldly. also the new Mr. Lif EP "Emergency Rations" is pretty good as well. and, as everyone has already said, the new blackalicious LP is the album of the summer..bling bling. brad :: kikapu net.label - http://www.kikapu.com :: :: artificial intelligence radio - http://www.kikapu.com/brad :: ----- Original Message ----- From: "albert loo" <foosfoos@hotmail.com> To: <tmillar@comcast.net>; <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Tuesday, July 09, 2002 12:00 AM Subject: Re: [idm] hip hop

man, this rjd2 album is fucking incredible. hits me the way endtroducing did where you want to call friends and have them share it with you because it's so good. this is the best music, flat out, i've heard for a while. although... between asa-chang, mum, and super_collider these last two months have been good to my sensibilities... gregory __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I have heard some lovely things about the Def Jux crew, so I thought I would let everyone know that we will be hosting (on the last possible minute tip) the RJD2 CD release party here in Columbus, Ohio feat. Super Smash Bros., Vast Aire (of Can Ox), Aesop Rock, El-P (of Company Flow), and Mr. Lif in about 4 weeks (assuming we can pull together a venue by then). I am sure RJ would appreciate the support...e-mail off-list if interested. Thanks, JS onthefloorproductions
