Hey, I kinda like the clouddead stuff (I have the CD of collected 10"s on Big Dada), but I'm looking for something similar, and different at the same time (woah....... dude........) I like the backing music on clouddead, the nice beatless textures and crunchy-ish beats, but, frankly, am not a fan of Doseone's voice - I find it nasal and irritating. Shame, because his and the others' lyrics are really sweet. So what I'm looking for is musically similar post-hoppy type stuff, without the "I'm holding my nose AND I'm dope" stance. Some hints - I've been digging Aesop Rock and Atmosphere, but the music's a touch too straight. The CanOx album just didn't move me - too much mid-range in the mix (how anal am I?). The new El-p could be nice, but I'm a little wary after his recent productions. Any reviews anyone had of this would be great. Also, I heard that Odd Nosdam and Why? have a release together - anyone have the word on that? Not sure if this is off-topic, but then my nerd-oracle needs new batteries, so you folks are my only hope. Thanks in advance, Papa D The Marcia Blaine School For Girls: marciablaine.cjb.net available: s/t e.p. on Dalriada inclusion on Benbecula "Music Volume 2" The Marcia Blaine School Disco Vol. 1 (ramshackle CDR mix album) forthcoming: inclusion on Law & Auder "I Am:Bient" inclusion on Struktur compilation _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Amen to that! I can't understand how people listen to his grating, penetratingly annoying voice. I feel that he absolutely ruins every track that he guests on, and lately, he's been all over the place. The tracks on the recent Hood album were destroyed. It's a shame, because I really would like to hear the Boom-Bip work without Dose on the track, hopefully the new stuff on Lex will be completely instrumental. As for recommendations, I would say check the Daedelus disc on Plug research. While its not completely hip-hopish IDM, the tracks border enough, and with a lot of variety to interest. And 2 of the instrumental tracks have guest rappers on them. (Separate from the original instrumentals). --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Yeah.. I second the notion. Pure video game beats. Notable thing about this album is the fact that the 2nd last cut is the first hip hop track that has ever reminded me of the red planet releases. Bean steals the show everytime he grabs the mic. This is definitely my fave hip hop album since dr. doom. The new matmos/lesser and roger tubesound (thank you Chris Twomey) are smokin' as well. Lots of good music coming out right now.. ~g -- Greg Smith http://www.laiad.com "There is no such thing as a perfectly accurate clock. The nearest you can get is one that has stopped.
