Hey, I kinda like the clouddead stuff (I have the CD of collected 10"s on Big Dada), but I'm looking for something similar, and different at the same time (woah....... dude........) I like the backing music on clouddead, the nice beatless textures and crunchy-ish beats, but, frankly, am not a fan of Doseone's voice - I find it nasal and irritating. Shame, because his and the others' lyrics are really sweet. So what I'm looking for is musically similar post-hoppy type stuff, without the "I'm holding my nose AND I'm dope" stance. Some hints - I've been digging Aesop Rock and Atmosphere, but the music's a touch too straight. The CanOx album just didn't move me - too much mid-range in the mix (how anal am I?). The new El-p could be nice, but I'm a little wary after his recent productions. Any reviews anyone had of this would be great. Also, I heard that Odd Nosdam and Why? have a release together - anyone have the word on that? Not sure if this is off-topic, but then my nerd-oracle needs new batteries, so you folks are my only hope.
