hey does anyone out there know of folks who do non-cut-and-paste IDM? I mean, ok everyone has acid and logic and god knows what else, but who just lets stuff run on a multitrack recorder and deal with the consequences. I suppose this question could be rephrased: is there any non-file-tweaker IDM at all, or does the very definition bust the definition of IDM and become something like indie instead? yeah, I know, I'm rhetorical as fuck ... sosumi! d.stroganoff --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Dear Troll, Great! Yes, That's what I'm asking about ... music that bleeds over into too-numerous-too-count genres - heck - I finally got my address to post to this list, and I love talking about all kinds of music (because IDM seems to be a pretty broad-spectrum kind of genre especially, I'm really drawn to this list (otherwise I wouldn't have lurked for the past couple months wondering why I couldn't post.)) Too many parens, anyway! PS: Please visit http://www.underpop.org for info about a completely non-idm band, my longtime indie crew, the Shimmer Kids Underpop Association. We're playing St. Valentines and St. Paddy's in San Francisco. Pardon the plug, that's the only one I'll post, seemed relevant to the response. How about Mice Parade? All instruments played live apparently (though fuck knows how as it's all very intricate), put down live on multitrack. Not strictly IDM - it's got more in common with MBV/Tortoise/Steve Reich, but the Mokoondi album is pure class. i heartily recommend fennesz. structuring is very freeform and much human emotion from electronics. yum. try the detroit live set which should be available on your favourite file-sharing system, then either buy the 'plus 47 degrees, minus 16 degrees' album for more unstructured stuff, or get 'endless summer' for something perhaps more easily digestable. http://www.mego.at/fennesz.html ed --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
