How 'bout some thoughts on the album? I picked it up the other day, and I'm not sure how it's gonna go over with everybody. I tend to like his earlier stuff (RCDevine 12", Ischemic Folks tracks) more than Lipswitch, but I like Aleamapper for different reasons. Ya know those 1 and 2 minute noise interludes between songs on Lipswitch? Well, the majority of Aleamapper are noise tracks like those. I mapped it out- 16 tracks only 4 of which have beats or resemble traditional songs, at least in Richard Devine terms. So the vast majority of the album is made up of these soundscape-y noisy songs. Not exactly what I was expecting, especially after seeing him play a few times over the last couple years, where live he's quite industrial strength pounding grooves. But still good, if I'm in a rubato noisescape mood. Oh ya- record goes at 33.

slightly off topic, but speaking of schematic, does anyone else thing that otto von schirach is downright amazing? especially the 8000 bc release. It's kinda funny, because I NEVER hear any comments about him on the list and there really aren't any resources on him save the schematic web site. does he even exist? Odd, considering that the most amazing sounds I've ever heard have come from him. I think he's what would happen if venetian snares were to huff some ether and play with a blender, banannas, a handful of nails and a microcassette recorder....and sometimes a drum machine. --- ff g <glassmuseum@yahoo.com> wrote:

von schirach is totally unstoppable really. i just got the new album in, and its quite in line with the 8000BC album. lots of "cartoonly" sounding schirachisms. my only complaint is that it seems to cover most of the same ground through the whole album. very cool, intricate ground, but its got too much of a good thing in there. i'm curious how his next record - the "chopped zombie fungus" is going to sound - since its coming pretty darn soon. although chronologically i don't know when any of the cuts were made. i'd like to see what he progresses into...because its got to be insane. - cutups -----Original Message----- From: Dr. Gozra Von Peebles <gozravp@yahoo.com> To: ff g <glassmuseum@yahoo.com>; idm@hyperreal.org <idm@hyperreal.org> Date: Sunday, January 13, 2002 3:24 AM Subject: RE: [idm] Aleamapper / otto von who?
